Hi!!! I was just wondering if London is a transphobic place much? Like I know the UK in general is but is London because usually I thought they were more progressive??? Or is that not true?? Because my boyfriend is English and his family doesn’t like me so we were maybe going to go to London to visit so they can see im just a normal person like everyone else but now I’m getting scared because I’m seeing all these people say the uk is really bad and I just don’t know. Is London a good place for trans people?
>>
>>43536675
>Be less than 1% of the population
>"b-but I'm normal!"
by definition, you are not.
>>
>>43536675

Your milage may vary, but for what its worth, my MtF friend who visited the UK said the only time she got transphobia was in London.

Tho its a world city, no one is a monolith.
>>
>>43536675
>I know the UK in general is transphobic
???
>>
>>43536780
Leave me alone

>>43536789
That makes me nervous because I thought it would be better not worse but idk if I should. I don’t want to say no to him but I just don’t dont know. I don’t want to hurt him but I’m scared
>>
>>43536797
Yeah??? Like I thought everyone knew that lol
>>
>>43536800
Why? I'm correct.
>>
>>43536800

Overall i think you’ll be fine. London is a world city in a Western country with a huge population.

I’m a chaser but imo spend time with your man. I think bringing up that you’re nervous and ask him to take that into account.

Also she just got weird comments; no one like, attacked her or anything
>>
>>43536808
I live here. It's better than anywhere else I've been for trannies.
Why do you think it's bad?
>>
>>43536780
Everyone is less than 1% of the population. At least as long as you don't live in a village with less than 100 people
>>
>>43536827
>Everyone is less than 1% of the population
No, women are not less than 1% of the population. Nor are men.
Trans people are tho.
>>
>>43536808
No you aren’t

>>43536814
Maybe I should. His sister is kind of off with me anyway and has said a lot of weird things to me even though we’ve barely interacted with eachother

>>43536817
Because all your press and elected representatives talk shit about trans people constantly and every high profile transphobe I can think of who isnt just like a right winger who hates all minorities is British
>>
>>43536843
>Because all your press and elected representatives talk shit about trans people constantly
You mean like Reform? The last statement I read from them says "we shouod respect the rights of trans people moving forward".
>b-b-but the Harry Potter woman!!
People are allowed to have opinions, eveb about you. You can't ever stop that.

I got more violence in literally every other country I visited than I did in the UK. You're just fearmongering.
>>
>>43536867
Okay cool well I prefer not to get treated like shit so that’s why I was asking. Also are you a man pretending to be a trans woman because I have never met a single British trans woman who agrees with you most want to leave for the eu or Australia
>>
>>43536876
>Are you a man???
You sound like a TERF. Don't be rude, I'm trying to help you.
>>
>>43536889
Okay lol, well everyone is allowed to have their opinions, even about you, and my opinion is your like a weird British chaser guy larping as a trans woman
>>
>>43536909
>Asks for help
>Doesn't hear what she wanted
>misgenders her allies
Yeah, you're not genuine.
Reported for hateful comments, I know you're not supposed to announce a report, but I'm letting you know why I won't help you anymore.
>>
>>43536922
Okay lol
>>
>>43536876
Ignore that idiot. They're obviously trying to get a rise out of you
>>
>>43536931
How am I trying to "get a rise" out of them?
I answered their qestions about the UK as a trans person, and they called me a man.
If they think it's "TERF Island" or whatever the meme is, they'll fit right in, but it's not in my experience.
>>
>>43536931
I just think they’re lying because they act like it’s stupid to disagree with jkr then call me a terf like that’s a bad thing the accuse me of misgendering like that’s a bad thing. So like what is even their opinions
>>
>>43536938
>they act like it’s stupid to disagree with jkr
When did I do that? I disagree with her too.
>Called me a TERF
You called me a man. You are the aggressor, not me.
>>
>>43536944
>b-b-but the Harry Potter woman!!
That’s also how I talk about people with the same concerns I have.
>>
>>43536948
People are allowed to have opinions in this country, you don't have to agree with them.
I don't. Stop misgendering people jut because you misinterpreted what I said.
>>
>>43536675
Yes anywhere on that shitty Harry Potter island is transphobic. escape asap.
>>
>Wales
Really great for trans people. Free healthcare etc.
>London
London is always a shit hole. Literally go to any other part of the UK.
>>
>>43536953
That literally doesn’t make sense. No part of this conversation was about whether people are allowed to be transphobic, everyone everywhere is allowed to be transphobic. The question was if they are and you said no then brought up jkr dismissively.
>>
>>43536931
>>
>>43536978
Oh I’ve never been to wales but he said we might have our wedding there because it’s less hostile but would make his parents happy because they wouldn’t have to fly all the way to the United States

>>43536966
Idk if that’s true there’s some cool people there but it seems like England specifically is super reactionary as a whole
>>
>>43536993
Sorry I’ll stop replying im stupid i fall for bait easy
>>
>>43536982
And why is that upsetting you?
I really don't understand why you are upset at me for being factual. Here are the key points for you to re-read without bias;
>I've travelled across America, India and visited Itally and France
>Live in the UK
>Experienced varying degrees of verbal and physical abuse from locals about my gender
>Experience way less when I'm back home in the UK
>Harry Potter author was brought up, because people use her as an example why the "whole place is TERF Island!!" I'm telling you while individuals can have opinions on your gender that you disgree with, there are so many anti disciminatiom laws that not much happens to me in the UK.

Other people will have different experiences. These are mine. Is everything ok now?

>>43536978
Cymru am byth!
>>
How well do you pass can I ask?

I live in a UK city and I am fine. My friends sometimes experience low level transphobia, stuff like being mocked a bit. Sometimes it escalates if they push back. I have been assaulted a few times when more visibly trans but it was always within the context of some man feeling I was trying to trick him or something. I think you will likely be fine especially with your boyfriend around, being with a man makes passing a lot easier.
>>
>>43537035
I hope I will be, I think it should be okay. I live in California right now and literally barely experienced any transphobia in years so I don’t want to have to.
I think I pass pretty much fine at this point, my voice is a little clocky tho. I feel like if someone way looking for it they’d be able to tell tho
>>
>>43537112
Firl if you mostly pass and just sometimes have a kinda husky voice you'll be fine.
>I feel like if someone way looking for it they’d be able to tell tho
Universally people do not look for it. Even if some people in the UK hate trannies, the same rule is true everywhere. People do not transvestigate. We are less than 1% of the population. Especially if you pass well, you are a minority within a minority. Normal people, even if they notice something is a bit different about you, will not jump to the weird fringe edge case of 'this person transitioned'. We pass as well as one another by the sounds of it and I have not experienced anyone even clocking me, let alone being rude, in like 4 years.

Make sure bf is around just so you're feeling more confident and put it out of your mind :)
Have a nice trip and don't let his family be weird to you
>>
>>43537129
Thank you :). You make me feel a lot less scared of going. I know his sister is basically a terf but the rest of his family is just really conservative so I think in a way they might come around even if she specifically doesn’t. I think it will hopefully be good, I’ve never been to the UK so as long as it’s safe I think it will be cool to see
>>
>>43537155
Its a case by case thing of course but I think even conservatives or TERFs over here often carve out weird exceptions. This is not to say that makes it okay, it sucks that they are prejudiced. But often I find if you come across normal and well adjusted, especially if you're making their son/brother happy, you might well end up being 'one of the good ones' in their mind. It's rare I think to experience overt hostility at the very least. People here are generally very non confrontational and overly polite. If you're worried, bring his mom a little gift - it will help endear you. Just a lil treat from the states or something.
>>
>>43536780
gingers and green eyed people are both as rare as trannies
>>
>>43537251
Would love to see where you got this fact from.
>>
this board is super hyperbolic about the UK tbqh, makes sense because it's practically the root of most TERFism in the anglophone, but America is the source of both secular and Christian right wing transphobia and people still understand that plenty of states are pretty progressive

Anyway, you should be fine in London just as long as you pass from a distance, I do and nobody has ever been transphobic to me in person here, worst that'll happen is a few kids will shout something, British transphobes are still British and thus usually keep their thoughts to themselves.
>>
>>43537258
google "ginger hair percentage"?? you sodding retard
>>
>>43537355
I asked where you got the fact from. Idk why you're being so hostile about sharing an interesting fact.
>>
>>43536675
it's not that bad, people here are generally cowards and talk behind your back rather than to your face :p
i've never ever had a bad experience
>>
>>43536675
capital cities are big and not a monolith
o block and Beverly hills are both in la
and you'd be treated differently in those places

central London is mostly immigrant communities and crime and stuff
you'd get well shanked bruv

there's also posh areas
coin flip if the cis women there will like you
the men will be too busy working and doing blow to care
>>
>>43536836
Trans people are actually 3% of the population. Eat a dick faggot
