But upon growing up he decided he wanted to prove his manliness to convince them that this tradition is wrong. Strive has Bridget start questioning her gender and ultimately concluding she's a transgirl. The problem with this is that first part, the part where she had been raised as a girl from the start makes being trans look suspiciously like a product of socialization and not an innate characteristic/dysphoria. That is not a narrative you want spreading around.

That's not really much of an issue by itself, but it is something that you basically have to argue to justify. As far as Bridget's cultural impact, I have begun to realize that she is the mascot of baby trans or, at worst, modern Reddit/Twitter trannies who barely even have any dysphoria and think being trans is an identity and infantilize themselves with pastels and stuffed animals. Representation wise, I think Bridget is kinda shit. I mean there's the grooming angle, which is largely false but hard to argue against on a surface level. There's also the fact that the story in the game presents Bridget as questioning her gender and the entire arc is about her coming to terms with being trans, but it is such a surface level understanding of the concept and there is no real representation of the traumas and mental issues that transsexuals go through, not to mention the body modification side. Bridget just magically happens to look like a cute girl and her transition is as simple as saying "I'm a girl now teehee". Didn't even have a change of clothes. In all respects, I think Poison, insofar as fighting games are concerned, is a much better trans rep. The fact that her sex is ambiguous and Capcom perpetuates this ambiguity is exactly how the world should see trans women. Ono even once said that Poison is post-op. By all accounts, even if stripped fully naked, any observer could not tell Poison's birth sex. To apply real world logic, she's stealth, and that's largely the goal for trans women and has been for most of recent history.

Like I said, not even a change of clothes. It's much more transGENDER than it is transSEXUAL. Bridget is a girl because she says she is, which is the consensus among young people now. If we're talking in all of gaming, I think some of the best trans representation is Osa and Tubarao from Rainbow Six Siege. They're a trans woman and a trans man respectively, and just playing the game and reading their bios, you would never know it. I bet the average 14-26 year old dude has no idea they're even trannies. And unlike Poison and Bridget, absolutely no emphasis is placed on their gender or sexuality or bodies. There is no dev coming out and confirming whether Osa has a dick or a pussy, there's no voice line talking about dysphoria or how Tubarao always felt like a man. They're just people, and that's what trans people are.

Is selling yourself necessarily a moral thing? Not really, but I also don't think the writing of Street Fighter, especially for a side character, is that serious. It also helps that Poison is strong and sexy, these are not objectifying, they're her tools. That's why her character is built around sexuality. But of course, you can always argue that making a trans woman's character centered around her sex appeal is still a transmisogynist thing to do.
