People like that are especially sensitive and erratic under stress, and his just snowballed for years. My guess is that he just became more and more disillusioned and at some point just began embracing dark thoughts as vengeance for displacement, unable to ever reconcile his mental disadvantages and the additional living situation stress that it incurred.It seems it was just a matter of time and became hard wired into his psyche.
