I get better treatment as a trans white woman than cis black women do, it’s something I’ve seen firsthand. But that comes with the caveat that I don’t look like a train wreck. I always try to be nice to black girls because they deal with a lot of shit.

trannies get abused in public with no consequence. Trans panic is still a legitimate defense for killing a tranny. Your whole life is at the whim of medical providers who can cut you off at any moment, or can be cut off by the government. The government can (and does) invalidate your ID even if you haven't changed the sex marker. Your existence is treated as a sex crime in half the states and the president calls trannies a terrorist organization. You barely have anti-discrimination laws. Even if you pass perfectly, the government can forcibly out you and ruin your life regardless. And of course you have the inherent problems of dysphoria, growing up as the wrong gender, needing constant medical treatment and extremely expensive surgeries, and so on.
of course being black is hard and there's a lot of racist, but like 15% of america is black and the country is full of majority black places to live, black cops, black judges, black politicians. You have strong legal protections and if you get arrested for a crime you'll have tons of social support and non-profit organizations trying to free you, even if you're guilty. The president can say all sorts of horrible things about trans people, but would never dare be racist against blacks, and the whole right wing establishment is like that.

in one of the US states they recently invalidated all the tranny IDs with the wrong sex marker as the justification, but they also invalidated IDs of trannies that didn't even change their ID, because they have a big list of every tranny and just did them all not only the ones who changed their IDs. I forget which state, kansas or something.
of course they also nationally invalidated anyone's passport with a changed sex marker, but I think only if it was different from their birth certificate.

Not really comparable. You can hide being trans, you can't hide being black, but nonetheless the act of hiding your transness adds an extra dimension to it for a lot of people. I mean, really, how "hard" it is to be black/trans is a spectrum on both sides. A non-passing white impoverished openly trans woman living in Alabama is going to have a lot more trouble than a financially successful black guy living in a place like Massachusetts, and an impoverished black guy living in Alabama is gonna have a much harder time than a stealth white trans woman living in Massachusetts.
I guess if you really wanted to take the average happiness of black people in the US and compare it to the average happiness of trans people in the US, I would say trans people have it harder due to the inherent nature of gender dysphoria to cause other mental stresses (depression and so on), but it's really not an important distinction. Like, if a trans woman gets shot for being trans and a black guy gets shot for being black, people should be gunning for whoever's behind the gun instead of comparing their corpses.

Honestly, I don't really compare them most of the time. I would say they're about even? Being black makes it easier to pass in a country where the majority of people are not black.

A few aspects of transphobia and antiblack racism are weirdly the same. The misogyny directed at women in both groups, and also the fetishization. It's always been weird when I see white trans women acting the same as white cis people, and similar to their own chasers as well.

One of the reasons I probably don't compare them is because I really dislike that dichotomy. Not just here but sometimes IRL as well. Even when people try to include exceptions in their phrasing, it's clear that they see someone white as the default type of trans person, and black people as always cis. They're contrasted here to the point that even discussion of the (admittedly hideous) progress flag often has people genuinely angry and confused that black and brown people were randomly thrown into the LGBT community. It doesn't immediately occur to them it's referring to other gay and trans people.

actually, one thing I will say about the difference is that black people, by and large, have community of their own racial group. USUALLY. Black people who would be on 4chan often have kind of a fucked up situation going on, but usually black people can at least be raised by other black people.

Trans people, however, are not usually born to other trans people, especially out and transitioned trans people. They are in that sense naturally more isolated and have to reach out to others proactively if they want community. there are drawbacks to having a lot of your intracommunity time online also, especially in this political climate.
