like programming started as a woman's job (https://www.history.com/articles/coding-used-to-be-a-womans-job-so-it-was-paid-less-and-undervalued). as a field, it requires a lot of collaboration, language skills, and detail orientedness. when you build circuit boards or whatever, that is basically like arts and crafts except with electricity and logic boards (look at cyberdecks like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aumh4oknVuM for example). it got changed to a man's job later for other reasons, but was originally thought to be more suited to women (https://confluence.gallatin.nyu.edu/sections/research/how-computing-became-masculine-in-the-cold-war). later after this shift, blanchard came up with his idea of autogynephilia to explain trans women in "masculine" jobs like... computing, which was originally considered more suitable to women. of course, it would make sense that the "men" that would swarm this type of career would be trans women because the shift of computers from a girls and gays field (see alan turing and grace hopper as examples) to a heterosexual male dominated field was entirely artificial! so like please dont feel so bad about yourself ugh i looked on this website because someone i know used words from it and its just horrific to see the way yall talk about yourselves :(

This is the male phenotype from whence autogynephilia develops.

Top kek, I didn't realize another way in which blanchard was retarded. That said the fembrain / male brained stuff is silly, it's really about being part of an imagined community and the modern day cyberdeck stuff is honestly different from the secretarial work that computing was originally associated with. In this case it's about women who do CS fitting into the imagined community of artists and "makers", whereas in the past the kind of white collar work which secretaries did was considered less important than more serious, male positions like sales or management.

Having a "male brain" really just means trying to fit in with the guys. Typically this is done through sports, which leads to a significantly greater average number of concussions that men experience impacting their brains.
