I really feel like I've tried anything possible to find a way to style my hair, and nothing worked even in the slightest.
I've tried using nothing except shampoo. Very frizzy and dry results obv.
I've tried a minimal haircare routine, just shampoo, conditioner and hair oil. Frizzy.
I've tried using the curly girl method. Frizzy.
I've tried a more elaborate haircare routine. Shampoo, hair mask, conditioner, serum, leave-in, oil, heat protection and a styling cream. Just as frizzy.
I've tried air-drying it. Frizzy. Using a blow-dryer. Frizzy. Using a diffuser. Still frizzy
I've also tried going to a hair salon and asking as many questions as I could about how to get rid of the frizz. Got told my hair is healthy, and that I'm either stuck with the frizz, or doing something severely wrong. None of the suggestions helped. I feel cursed.
Anybody else stuck with disgusting permanently frizzy straw hair?
>>
it sounds like you're letting your hair dry too much before styling it. it has to be soaking wet when you do your curly hair routine whatever that is. otherwise the hair doesn't define into curls
>>
>>43616825
>frizzy hair
are you black and or brown? in which case stop listening to these white hoes, since AGPs are almost always white and dont know shit about frizzy hair or haircare in general. watch cis black or brown hair and makeup care youtubers instead. Also stop hating your own race you chud.
>>
Blow drying it always works for me but I’m too lazy to do that every time I shower so I just let it be frizzy
My boyfriend thinks frizzy hair looks cute like I just got fucked
>>
>>43616871
It could be. I usually squeeze out any remaining water with my hands and then pat my hair down with a towel. My hair is still wet then, but not really soaking wet. I'll try to style it while soaking wet next time

>>43617020
I'm white...
>>
>>43616825
Did you acually get a haircut
I had really dry frizzy ends, straight out of shower.
When i went to hairdresser after like 4 years she told me that there is nothing you can do about the ends but to cut them off periodically.>>43616871
>>
>>43617075
I have. I'm trying to get a haircut at least every three months, and I've gotten one just last week.
It changed nothing unfortunately. My hair is still just as frizzy
>>
>>43617052
Blow-drying just gives me a ton of volume, but it arguably makes my frizz even worse.
I really don't know what I'm doing wrong
>>
>>43616825
Have you tried to use a hair straightener?
>>
>>43617055
how in the fuck are you white and have frizzy hair? are u a jew or biracial or something?
>>
>>43616825
I used to have similar problems until I started using a fuck ton of hair spray and wear a bonnet every single day
t. curly hair tranny
>>
>>43616825
cut some of it off if its damaged. theres nothing that can fix already damaged hair
>>
>>43617440
Nope. I apparently just have horrible hair, or I'm too retarded to take care of it
>>
>>43617478
I've tried using hairspray, but it just made my hair feel extremely dry and coarse. I really don't know what I'm doing wrong
>>
>>43617517
I've cut off like 10 cm of it last week, and it didn't change a thing. At this I can only try shaving it all of and then hope for the best
>>
Try a curly hair routine with mousse for curly hair
>>
>>43617566
Even super healthy hair can wind up fucked based on stupid shit, just the difference between a warm humid day and a mild dry interior can entirely fuck my hair. Is your hair wavy or curled? Tight, circular coils that 'fro up, or smooth and ovoid waves?
Do you brush the hell out of it?
how long is the longest routine you've tried? If you've acted on damage, cutting it back, and then stuck with a routine for months afterward there should be some situations like after the right shower, or in the morning after the bonnet comes off, where your hair seemed fine and then magically fucked itself right after leaving. Are you brushing the hell out of your hair? using a fine comb?
>>
>>43617586
>Is your hair wavy or curled?
It has the potential to be very wavy
>Tight, circular coils that 'fro up, or smooth and ovoid waves?
Ovoid waves
>Do you brush the hell out of it?
I've tried it all. Tried not brushing it at all, except when rinsing the conditioner out of my hair, tried brushing it with a wave brush only, and I've tried brushing it with a regular brush. The texture of the waves was different, but still always just as frizzy
>how long is the longest routine you've tried?
Pre-shampoo, shampoo, hair mask, conditioner, hair serum, leave-in conditioner, heat protection, styling mousse for curls and waves, hair oil, and then blow-drying it
>there should be some situations like after the right shower, or in the morning after the bonnet comes off, where your hair seemed fine and then magically fucked itself right after leaving
Nope. It looks like shit immediately after drying it, and it stays that way. The only days where it ever looked even slightly fine was like two days after washing and styling it
>Are you brushing the hell out of your hair? using a fine comb?
I don't
>>
>>43617576
I will. I don't really have any other choice but to keep trying
>>
>>43617632
>>how long
I meant, how many months did you stick with whichever routine? Like, right after visit to salon you went home and use ____ and for how long
stuff can take years to change
either way tho, if you've never found any way to dry your hair without a bunch of frizz it might be beyond me. Your hair might actually just be like that. If it's fixable it might need as much as a cut all the way back to your ears and a big change in diet/routine, or maybe there's just one fancy indie sellers magic goop that turns your hair perfect. there might be answers paywalled behind some specialist but i couldn't say where to start if there's NEVER a moment of decent hair.
>>
>>43617573
how long is your hair? i also had the same issue. i had really long hair and cut it to shoulder length then started caring for my hair so it wont end up as damaged once it grows and it fixed it. although i don't have curly hair, just wavy
>>
>>43617811
>I meant, how many months did you stick with whichever routine?
Oh, sorry, I'm just plain dumb.
The longest routine was probably 1+ years long. That one was just shampoo, conditioner, styling gel and hair oil
>Your hair might actually just be like that.
At this point I think it may be, which is extremely demoralizing. I can't even go out without wearing a cap or something to cover it
>>
>>43617838
>how long is your hair?
Currently it's around chin length. Also, I have wavy hair too

not op but i started using mousse recently and my hair turned out really great, i dont use it daily tho. i have a curly hair friend who wears silk bonnets to bed every night so maybe that could help too.

very basic question unrelated to frizz but: does blow drying actually damage your hair? i got told that when i was young but i think its bullshit

Have you ever tried a decalcifant serum? It strips all the junk out of your hair. Sometimes it can be hard water in your area causing the issue. They can be expensive but it's worth it.

I have INSANE frizzy and curls naturally that made life a nightmare. What worked for me was never washing my hair with any product. Just water. Full blow out your hair and then once dry section it and use a straightening brush (I use a GHD glide). Then add a tiny bit of Olaplex once its dry for shine and flyaways.

I think Ive washed my hair with shampoo/conditioner maybe 3 times in the last 5 years. Always goes frizzy dry and shit. If I get dirty hair I only use CLARIFYING conditioner conditioner.

Alternatively try getting keratin hair straightening done. Youre hair will be straight af for the first 3 months and then be kinda wavey for another 6 months. No frizz at all the whole time though. And you can wash your hair as much as you like.

>picrel
I hadnt washed my hair in over a year in this picture and my natural hair is 2c grade
>>
>>43618201
I actually haven't, but it's probably worth a try. Do you have any recommendations?
>>
>>43618190
>>43618230
I'm really sorry you have to struggle with it too. This hair feels more like a curse tbf
>>
>>43618188
Only when the heat is high
Use cold air and don't bring the dryer too close to the strands
>>
>>43618243
You have really beautiful hair.
Unfortunately, I really doubt that not washing it with any water will help me, but I've never tried avoiding products for more than a week or two.
Also, what kind of product is olaplex?
>>
>>43618243
If I wash my hair with water alone then it looks oily as fuck
I take some frizz over that any day
>>
>>43618422
Thankyou!
>I really doubt that not washing it with any water will help me
Look up the Nopoo movement. There are tons of women doing it. Its not just something I made up lol. Moisture loss and cuticle dmg is the cause of frizz and a TON of shampoos/conditioners fuck with that stuff.
>olaplex
>Picrel
Olaplex is a salon tier hair product brand but most people with frizz swear by Olaplex no6 which is a hair bond smother. Essentially it smooths down the cuticle plates along the outer layer of your hair. It results in more moisture retention within the hairs core and significantly smooths frizz.
>>
>>43616825
How's your diet?

If you're doing a lot try and do the opposite and just minimal hair care, shower once a day (or every other day to shampoo and condition if your hair needs time to accrue natural oils.

Argan oil when hair is still damp helps me with frizziness. Also put your hair in a bun after oiling and after it's completely dry. 6 hours in a bun and when you pull it out it'll have good curls if your hair is predisposed to that.

It took me 10 years to figure out what worked. Make sure you're not breaking your hair in hair ties or else that will make it frizzy and can only be fixed by a trim to remove split ends. I highly advise learning to cut your own hair.
>>
obviously without seeing your hair idk how frizzy it actually is but really just learning to accept my frizz and see it as beautiful not just on me but on all curly haired women has really been the only way to combat the obsession. its just how curly hair is not every single strand is gonna line up with the lock its supposed to be in
>>
>>43618565
It needs to be long enough to comfortably trim split ends yourself (you should grow it at least that long anyway)
>>43618586
Minor frizz is part of the charm I think, only when it gets out of hand is when problems begin
>>
>>43618524
>Look up the Nopoo movement
I have tried Nopoo for a short while, but it only made my hair extremely coarse and dry at the beginning, before it became way too greasy that washing with only water didn't help. I really wish it worked, but I felt the need to switch back to using products. I still hope that trying it for a longer while may actually help, but I don't want my hair to look like asmongold's hair one week in
>Olaplex no6
Thanks a ton for the recommendation. I will look if I can find it in stores where I live, otherwise I'll order it online. I'm genuinely desperate to find at least something that can make my hair look appropriate enough to go out in public
>>
>>43618565
>How's your diet?
Overall healthy and varied. I also move enough and am enough out in the sun. Nutrition and health shouldn't be the issue
>If you're doing a lot try and do the opposite and just minimal hair care
As mentioned in >>43618760, I have triedit briefly in the past, but it didn't yield much. I will definitely try it out again in the near future if my current routine doesn't improve a thing (I don't think it will atp)
>Also put your hair in a bun after oiling
>Make sure you're not breaking your hair in hair ties
How do I put my hair in a bun without using hair ties?
>>
>>43618586
I've posted my hair once itt: >>43618134
>learning to accept my frizz
I really want to do that, but there's a huge difference between somewhat frizzy yet still normal looking wavy hair, and my hair looking disheveled and unwashed no matter what I do. I literally look like William Dafoe with a bird's nest on his head (I don't deserve any other pronouns)

Use softer and less tight hair ties and don't rip your hair out of them when it gets tangled. I'm lazy AF and have deteriorated my haircuts by just ripping those tangles out like a barbarian

>>
>>43618134
Heres what I do it's not perfect but could try it for at least 2 weeks. On your sweatiest day you wash; shampoo with real honey and a silicone (mine has dimethicone) on the ingredients list. Use the most hydrating conditioner you can find that you like and keep it in for as long as it says, but not super long I use the Aussie stuff with avocado. Then I use a leave in repair serum that also has honey just like one full pump. Put that in your hair after washing shampoo and cond out while hairs still wet. When you dry, use a 100% cotton shirt wrap it around your hair until it's not dripping wet but damp. You don't move the shirt at all, it just sits in your head and soaks up the water. Brush your hair, I brush up with my hair hanging down for volume. Based on your pic, you have similar to me where after a wash you strip out all the oils and it's frizzy as fuck. You need to do what you can to keep them there so after a wash honey absorbs moisture and puts it back in the hair faster. Even though these conditioners say they put it back, it never does for me. then let your hair dry my hair dries fairly faster like less than 30 minutes, so if your dries fast also sign of not holding onto moisture. Over the next few days DO NOT USE SHAMPOO. Instead just use water and do preening which is just running your nails on your scalp lightly to do some cleaning. Dry like above, put serum on or not your call. I do a wash, water, water, cowash (no shampoo just conditioner), water, water, repeat thing right now. My hair is doing better, not the best but better otherwise it's frizzy as fuck. I also use one of those plastic brushes with medium density bristles and then follow up with a wide toothed comb like very wide almost wig comb to get the hair to clump together more. Best of luck nona, hair is really difficult even hard water could fuck it up. My hair tends to look it's best after 2 days when it's got enough oils back. Also get a silk pillowcase.

I fucking hate curly hair, it's a fucking curse. You wake up messy, you need to condition everyday, which means leaving your home with wet hair. The longer it gets, the tougher it gets when wet especially during winter. If your cotton shirt touches your hair, it's game over, enjoy your frizz. Your cut will always be inconsistent because fuck you. You are stuck with needing to shampoo every two days and anyone who says they're doing cowash bullshit and stuff is a larper. All the people you see on YouTube doing bullshit curlygirl routines are larpers who spend their day doing their hair. You like biking or motorbiking? Game over bitch, wearing an helmet will destroy your styling. Guess who will look like shit after sports or at the beach when getting in the water? And the funny part is that you get to pay MORE to look shitter because curly hair products are a scam meant to trap you forever.
