I have had a beard from time to time. Mostly I just wear scruff which seems to be the optimal balance. Trimmed facial hair feels too vain. Many people wear seasonal beards. The downside with beards is mostly the mustache, which is forever dipping into food and no amount of washing gets rid of the variety of funky smells that linger.
