Jax is seemingly implied to be a tranny, ends up fucking killing self (abstracts). Considering Glitch is selling merch with Jax being addressed as "he" I think the implication was that he is just a male who likes girly stuff, maybe a fag. I can't imagine Gooseworx allowing merch that misgenders Jax if she planned him to be a tranny all alone.

You think it's sad because it is sad but the actual tone of the scene is not. The ending is bittersweet but hopeful, like they're having abstractions with them in an aquarium where they're roaming around happily and shit. And Pomni getting inside the abstraction and seeing all that shit implies that inside the abstraction the person is still there going through their memories or something so it's not all that bad even?
It's not only what is portrayed but how it is portrayed too.
Either way it's a big optics nuke, the shitstorm will be horrific on both sides. The best course of action is to say Jax isn't trans, even if that was the intention. Just lie or something.

Okay, the show itself portrays a situation of someone's identity not being realized but what about the audience? The audience now knows Jax is trans supposedly. So what about the merch they're wearing or the porn with him being male presenting and how they should address the character now? Yes, it is a fictional character but here it would in reflect attitudes towards real people.
If ALL of this is part of the commentary on repping then it's frankly kinda freakish and deranged to make the audience an unwilling participant in an overarching performance art piece about the societal consequences of repping.
