Fuck off with this vulgar trash

Part 2 is only marginally better, but I somewhat actually liked part 3. Not worth the slog though.
Apparently the prose is butchered in the English translation. I'd drop it if I were you.

this u?
>>
>>24674697
Yes, nobody should read his books.
>>
>>24674695
makes sense, the writing feels so flat and devoid of personality. i can see how that could be the fault of the translation. feeling like stopping might be the move, ive got don quixote and anna karenina on my shelf and feel like either of those are more worth my long book stamina
>>
>>24674698
have you ever heard of moral ocd? you might have that.
>>
>>24674723
Just because I don't like to read vulgarities on every second page I have OCD?
>>
>>24674716
It could theoretically make sense for Part 1 where the narration follows a young and inexperienced poet. You know, like in the Benjy/Jason chapters of the Sound and the Fury. But part 2 is narrated by like 20 different people, and apparently each one of them feels different to read in Spanish with different dialects and all. In English, all of them feel more or less the same.

not inherently because you don't want to read the books, but because with mention of bolaño here hypervigilantly spamming with screenshots of you ctrl-fing 'vulgarities' as though that's something anyone should care about. that's not normal behavior.

moral ocd means that you hyperfixate on things being morally good or bad and have intrusive thoughts and guilt and compulsive behaviors related to that. singling out books for using swear words and loudly announcing to the world how tainted and horrible and reprehensible that is when nobody asked seems to fall into that category. im saying this out of love.

I dropped it at the end of Part 1.

He's the equivalent to the 'not music' faggot from /mu/
>>
>>24674665
No, it doesn’t. It’s easily the worst novel I read this year.

Don't you see that I want to save you? Right now you consider the most vile and vulgar modernist trash good literature, but you can get better and change, get a grasp of real beauty again. Don't lose your soul in that slop.

After this and 2666 I can safely say that Bolaño is not for me.

moral ocd projection, friend

What bothers me from this novel is that the title is so fucking cool
Los detectives salvajes, the savage detectives
And it's nothing but a pure unadultered shitfest about fucking and fucking and fucking and some commentary about poetry and intellectuals, mexican intellectuals actually
FUCK Bolañigger
