not quite. more like actual historical villain that attains demigod status in mccarthy's ecstatic retelling. write a villain grand enough and he's lucifer, is himself ontological evil. because the tale requires that shade of black, requires absolutes. the kid standing for innocence, the contrasting light, which is not to say he's a saint.
