>page 20>a giant adenoid terrorizes London What even is this book? I bought it without knowing the guy… What am I actually in for?
>>24680513>What am I actually in for?peak
>>24680513I like the part when the guy eats poop
Someone's messy desk has just been described as full of bureaucratic smegma. Which is very funny
>>24680513>What even is this book?PYNCHED
It's really hard to read as an esl too. Maybe even a bit aimless, how could I even detect a revolutionary style if the only thing I ever read in English is "to kill a mockingbird"
>>24680923Honestly one of the most visceral and disgusting experiences I've had reading a book. The description of him chewing the soft, warm excrement made me almost gag. He also starts fantasizing about BBC because he's been completely hypno-sissified and became the ultimate cuck experiment.
>>24681610>hypno-sissified and became the ultimate cuck experiment.Pretty sure he was exploited by what they learned from Pirate and not conditioned, Pudding's giant adenoid was scat and being dominated.
>>24681029You’ll get there. I believe in you.
A lot of the weird parts are dreams or straight up hallucinations
>>24681610But he got to tongue Katjes bumhole for a moment, so really he's winning
>>24680513Random nonsense people pretend to 'get' as to seem smart, just like Naked Lunch
>>24680513Gravity's Rainbow is the most overrated, gobbledygook slop in all of Pynchon's bibliography. There are moments of brilliance, but you don't need to read this novel from from to cover, partially because Pynchon didn't give a fuck about plot and narrative, and when reading this shit, you shouldn't either. Mason & Dixon is LEAGUES better.
>>24682711Nah it's a pretty straightforward plot
>>24682711Too bad for you. It’s one of the most incredible pieces of literature I’ve ever read.
>>24682473You don't need to get a sunset or a lunch with friends. You can appreciate something for what it makes you feel. Gravity's rainbow has this effect on me
>>24682759Lol, yeah. It's a pretty straightforward novel, right?>>24683000You haven't read many incredible pieces of literature then.
>>24683035>You haven't read many incredible pieces of literature then.Did you struggle to understand “The Cat in the Hat”? I’d wager you did.
>>24683035More or less, yeah
London is being bombed by V2 rockets. You might say it is being terrorized by Hitler. Charlie Chaplin's character in The Great Dictator was called Adenoid Hynkel. So an Adenoid is terrorizing London.Either you get Pynch and his references, or you get PYNCHED.
>>24683735Getting that reference is fairly meaningless, as are most of the references. The important information is all the stuff about Pirate and his special skill. But good job on reading a guide, spoiling your read of GR with autism and probably missing most of the point and all of the nuance when it comes to theme.
>>24683745It's really neat that he throws magic in the middle of his realistic depiction of war time London desu
