Hey /lit/ I'm thinking of picking up The King in Yellow since I'm interested and have heard good things. How's this version of the book? does it include all the stories?
>>24680519dont bother. only the first story is good and even that is a mess. then there are a few run of the mill gothic tales, a somewhat interesting time travel romance, and some very dull romances that have nothing to do with the universe haphazardly set up.
Just read it on a pdf or something. The horror tales are worth a read but nothing mindblowing. The time travel romance that makes you whip out your french english dictionary is pretty good. I think it's actually better than the horror stories. The second half isn't much of anything.
I vaguely remember this being pleasant but I listened to it as an ebook during long night walks on snow covered trails after I broke up with my affair partner.>>24681867 is correct that the time travel romance is the only story that I can remember well enough to summarize in some detail. I also remember quite liking The Mask.Fuck what's the other weird fiction rec people always give where the guy summons a 4th dimensional entity or whatever. I can't remember anything about it right now except that it comes through a girls body and that it was a lot better than the King in Yellow.
>>24680519Find a horror collection that has the 2-4 decent stories along with selections from other early weird authors, there are plenty of them
