It was...ok
>>24681047I didn't rate it too highly. My main problem is that because the meaning is so obscured and Beckett himself was frustrated by people misunderstanding it without every stating what it was really about leads to a vacuum of meaning which leads to people coming up with their own interpretations which have become numerous since Beckett's death to the point where you could argue it means so much to so many different people that it doesn't actually mean anything. It also suffers badly from the problem of if I have to ask what it symbolises, then the symbolism isn't working.
>>24681047Godot hereSorry, I can't make it
>>24681078Very few authors state what their work is about, closest they get is vague allusions. The second an author explains meaning is the second their dies, there is nothing to discuss or debate, no mystery. Just look at this shithole, author makes a vague allusion about the meaning of a work and we end up with autists reducing it to that allusion and calling everyone else a retard. Waiting for Godot does not symbolize anything, it explores an idea and your needing to ask does not mean it does not work, it just means it does not work for you or that you are stupid.
>>24681047The point of 4chan is to learn quietly. And waiting for something that shows up. I spent most of my days away from highschool because I was sick for starters and just tired of the attitude it took for modern man to live. That attitude was submit or go home so glad I rebelled.
When I was a teenager I thought this was impressive, so impressive that it made me tear up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGQToJ9RR-4I tried to memorise it
It’s a brilliant play. Pas pris une ride.
>>24681047I admire the technique, but it doesn't hit me on a gut level.
Absolutely despise Beckett's plays. Godot being too threadbare for me to even get mad at. Some of the novels and short fiction is terrific though.

>>24681495You don't know what you're talking about, do you?
Endgame was better.... and I mean the movie

Yes, now I remember, yesterday evening we spent shitposting about nothing in particular. >>24681047Reading a play is like reading a film script and claiming you've seen the film
>>24683405Not him but>no argumentI accept your concession on his behalf.
Beckett almost killed my brother and my ex-gf
>>24683896Reading a play is like reading a film script and claiming you've read the script
>>24683896>>24683959Plays change depending on the production. Movie scripts are meant to go with the movie. If you read a play's script and talked about it with four people who all saw different productions of it you'd all be on equal ground.
>>24683896The play are the words. Seeing a play performed is a performance of the play. Not the play. Still too dumb to get it?Shakespeare’s plays are great, despite having been done a million times by the most awful performances in schools around the world.
