> The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling by Henry Fielding
> Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
> The Red and the Black by Stendhal
> Le Père Goriot by Honoré de Balzac
> David Copperfield by Charles Dickens
> Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert
> Moby-Dick by Herman Melville
> Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
> The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
> War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
Which ones have you read or know?
The only one I've never heard about was the first one. It's weird since the rest are widely known and appear in multiple lists.

I think the Tom Jones book is not known outside the anglo countries while the others are classics.

Only two replies while a thread about women raping people at a fantasy convention is on its way to bump limit.

This thread isn’t that good either. It’s a list of ten famous novels of the 19th century and asking if you ever heard of them. No, this is Brotjers Kramer-Zov? That’s new to me.

Dickens and Melville read. Dosto and Tolstoy on TBR pile. I know all of them since they’re on classics lists everywhere. What’s so interesting about this list then compared to the thousands of other ones?

Right, start discussing literature. Most on this board treats literature like band t-shirts. OP pic is essentially the pop-sci of literature, watered down for the masses but still offers more depth than 99% of /lit/ can manage.

Tom Jones might be the best novel there. Comedy not taken as seriously these days.

>> Le Père Goriot by Honoré de Balzac
Lost Illusions is better.

I've heard of all of them (except desu I'm kinda vague on the Balzac one, the title looks familiar but I don't know anything about it, French literature doesn't interest me very much so I think a lot of it gets filed away as the same thing in my mind) but I've only read Wuthering Heights and The Brothers Karamazov. And the first 10 percent or so of War and Peace. Didn't finish it because I relapsed and went to jail lol but not because of the book ^_^
