How can you be absolutely certain that your reality is not an elaborate dream or a highly advanced computer simulation?
>>
I used to be very anxious about this sort of thing until I discovered cosmological arguments
Ever since then I've been at complete peace

This is Descartes' skepticism, repudiated by Kant. Read the critique of pure reason

Because if I was designed and programmed surely whoever did it would've made it possible for me suck my own dick. It just seems like an obvious thing that men should be able to do.
>>
>>24681983
You can't. Pseuds can't be certain of anything.

It doesnt matter, your experience already is an advanced simulation from your brain.

you could also be infected by a mind virus.

THIS LOOKS REAL

I CAN TELL FROM THE PAIN AND FROM SUFFERING QUITE A LOT IN MY TIME

>true reality must exist somewhere in order for a dream or simulation to exist
>just not here ok?!
Makes sense to me to just presume this “real” reality unless proven otherwise.
It also just seems lazy as well as Rick and Morty dudeweed tier

it does not matter. what I'm perceiving is my reality. it only stops being my reality if I myself wake up from the matrix and see its machinations. only if I experience the "real" real world will I be convinced that the current one is a simulacrum.

obviously not.

Because a pathetic faggot like you made this OP and I couldnt dream up something so gay even under the threat of torture.

I think reality often feels like a dream, especially since I started noticing synchronicities
But even if it's a dream, who created the dreamer? There still has to be a creator God, imo
>>
You cant debunk it and normalnigger rationalists could be completely wrong about it and so dreamless they dont realize it
>>
>>24684087
The universe is simply a projection of our conscious thought. We are both the dreaming and the dreamer.

I fucking hate baby orangutans. They look like my balls. Every time I see one I get irritated. I'm sure they're very nice, but I hate them.

Never can be 100% sure of anything, but you can mount pretty good probabilistic arguments about what's more or less likely.

For example I'm reading this on a computer that wouldn't function if the scientific understanding of how electrons interact with silicon & metal at the molecular scale, on which microprocessors are based, wasn't accurate to a staggering degree of precision.

The computer is not a human. It is external to and independent of me, as evidenced by the fact that it can produce correct answers I do not anticipate and cannot easily reverse engineer myself, independently of observation/direct knowledge.

A process is happening in there which performs computation that I needn't understand all, or any of, in order for it to complete successfully. Therefore it is not my belief or act of observation making it work, and it is not something I have dreamt, in the solipsistic sense.

What's more, other humans can observe this same machine functioning and concur that it's doing so. This provides confirmation of this fact from sources outside of myself. I can know, to an extent which satisfies anyone except a solipsist, that these other humans are really extant independently of me because they possess knowledge I don't, and differing qualia.

Ergo, other independent observers exist apart from & uncreated by me, providing corroboration that the physical process happening in a computer is real, and proceeds according to the principles of electrodynamics as revealed by physicists.

This seems to suggest strongly to me there exists an external, objective shared reality not created by independent or collective perception. i.e. not a dream. Can't help you re: computer simulation as it would not differ in any perceptible way that I know of, as we don't have a certainly real reality to base a comparison on.

Simulate means to deceive via action. Think about that for a minute in context to your question.
