desperately seeking "set-in-the-balkans" kino, especially from a Westerners perspective (I've read a decent amount of what could constitute a balkan canon but am interested in the non-native take). beautiful area of the world, East > West desu
>>24682679Start with the Greeks (Freedom and Death, Zorba the Greek)Or read the Balkan equivalent of Dosto, Mesa Selimovic. Both "The Fortress" and "Death and the Dervish" are phenomenal. Ivo Andric' "The Bridge on the Drina" is considered the quintessential Yugoslav novel. You might also want to read "Tabacco", the best Bulgarian novel, but unless you speak Russian you will have to wait for me to translate it to English first. "Rakes of the old Court" by Caragiale is kino but it's Romanian so it has a different vibe than pure Balkan.
>>24682679>East > West desuwhat do you mean?
