>his first book came out in 1937>his second book came out in 1954What was he doing for 17 years? Even GRRM isn't that slow at writing.
>>24683991Anon… he had a job and a family. What’s Martin’s excuse?
Wow it's almost like something happened between 1937 and 1954 that delayed publication.
>>24684073WWII ended in 1945 though
>>24683991>What was he doing for 17 years?idk living a normal life?

This might be a bit inaccurate, but hear me out:The Hobbit was published in 1937, Return of the King in was published in 1955, there he worked on it for about 18 years, 18 divided by 3 is 6, six years for every book in the trilogy. If we were to make it a seven-book series, 6 multiplied by 7 would give us 42, meaning that a seven part lotr would be published in 1979, six years after Tolkien's death. However, if we were to take the year of completion, 1949, there is a 12 year gap, by applying the same method, a seven-part lotr would be finished in 1965.TL:DR: you have no excuses, fatman, get back to work.
