Is Wuthering Heights any good?
>>

It is very good. But it is quite uncomfortable reading about the messy relationships and the manipulations.

No

First 150 pages are good, then descends into melodramatic victorian slop
Every adaption skips out half the book, can’t think of any other ‘classic’ in which that happens.

I like it. I like it a lot. But what the fuck do I know?

Also if you know anything about this novel then you might be surprised to find out that what you know about it ends at the halfway point, and the half of the book beyond that is a further exploration of its themes about the cycle of trauma perpetuating more trauma. And I like that.

>messy relationships and the manipulations.
Why would women do it?
>>
No, it's shit.
Every single character is either an unlikeable asshole or an idiot, some are both.
The plot contains a ridiculous number of contrived coincidences, people dying left and right from common cold, and absurdly
irrational behaviour. E.g. no less than two characters marry blatantly abusive assholes on a whim, at which point they essentially become their lawful property, and start crying about it five minutes later.

'twas the style at the time.

I know, I don't object to the fact that it happens. I object to the fact that literally nobody ever considers or points out that this will be the consequence. And it happens in TWO separate cases.

I was literally Heathecliff. He is literally me. What do you think of me?
>>
>>24685288
That you're a sociopathic asshole and an idiot.
>>

I'm sorry your family rejected you. You didn't deserve that, you were just a kid.

yes. it's a book only disliked by pseuds, which is very apparent by the replies in this thread.
