Just a short story, but "Galloping Foxley" by Roald Dahl is not bad if you like his Tales of the Unexpected style.


"Stalky & Co" by Rudyard Kipling is good and pretty tough. The main characters are three 16/17 (I think) year old boys at a public school. There's quite a bit of bullying and revenge stuff in it.

One chapter in particular stands out. Two older boys (18 years old) are systematically terrorizing a much younger one and the school chaplain asks the main characters if they could step in.

They trick the two bullies into getting tied up and then basically beat the shit out of them for the entire chapter. It's sort of funny but not really. (One of the three main characters was bullied badly himself when he sttarted in school, and he's now taking out his frustrations.)

Also I know Stephen King is a hack, Carrie is a bit different from his other stuff in that it’s an epistolary novel and the girl in it is chubby and ugly unlike any of the women who played her in movies
