Comfy Bible thread
I'm going to start reading the OT again as I've just finished the NT for the first time. Should I resume from where I left off (I had read everything from Genesis to 1 Kings) or resume with another book from the OT?

Read all the poetry, Daniel and Jonah

I re-read Romans
>>

Daniel, Jonah, and the four books after chronicles 2 are also narrative
Ezekiel chapter 1 and 2 are probably the best chapters in the OT
Ask gpt the most important prophecies from Isaiah and Ezekiel

You didn't read 2 Kings?

I really like this verse, I had it stuck in my head for awhile after I read it.
Jesus had so much power
I also like this verse:
John 3:27
John answered and said, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven."

Because they mocked him for being bald

>bible tourist here:

unlike the Koran, torah or Vedas, the Christian bible is unimportant to read in the original language, so why do you all settle for the KJB? why not read one the modern rewritten versions since the exact language is unimportant and it's just about the message?
>>
>>24688408
Personally I read either the OSB or one in my native language

I don't I read multiple versions also Catholics shouldn't be reading the KJV but the DR
>>
>>24688408
Because the language is simply better rendered into English in the KJV. Modern translations concern themselves with accuracy, clarity, or condescending to minorities/ESL. Except for the epistles which I do not prefer to read in KJV.

I wish I could believe in Jesus

genesis is great I agree, theres the theory its stories are actually from another god. then the jews go on to their tribal yhwh wars and bull sacrifice crap

Does this imply, every time the bible is translated or rewritten, god is guiding their hand? Since God originally gave the laws, or spoke to man in certain languages, how can we be assured that newer versions carry that same spirit/meaning?

>Since God originally gave the laws, or spoke to man in certain languages, how can we be assured that newer versions carry that same spirit/meaning?
Read Acts 2:
>And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

>And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

God gave the apostles the ability to declare the gospel in all the languages of the world

>God gave the apostles the ability to declare the gospel in all the languages of the world

Thanks for citing passages, wonder why Christianity places no emphasis onholy language, when most other religions do.
>>
>>24688408
>if you can choose language and version freely, why would you choose the most beautiful and literarily important version?
yeah
>>
>>24689266
because it is a universalist religion that emerged in greek language out of hebrew tradition under latin government
>>
My take on the older brother in the Prodigal Son parable

It’s good to obey one’s father and work, but don’t forget to make merry every now and then, if you want to. Otherwise you’ll become resentful
