It's unironically impossible to appreciate Gravity's Rainbow without a firm grasp of Schopenhauer. All the themes of entropy, paranoia, and especially the dissolution of the self are filtered through this lens. Anyone who reads it as a simple postmodern critique has fundamentally been filtered.
>>24686129>themes>pluralYou do not understand or appreciate GR but at least you don't write it off as a simple postmodern critique, that is a start.
>>24686140What
>>24686260You don't understand or appreciate a work until you understand theme singular.
>shadow ticket comes out on october 7th>shills create pynchon threads >half the first page is pynchonlike clockwork
Another artist that Schopenhauer inadvertently influenced?
>>24686267It is more a reaction to there being an effort poster in the first Pynchon thread. /lit/ these days reacts by trying to reduce anything which suggests they might not be as smart as they want to believe they are by trying to turn it into a meme.
>>24686285what where?
>>24686285yes it’s mostly pseuds coping over getting BTFO by anons who actually read, so they make their own thread to feel like they have control over something. you can immediately tell they just went on wikipedia or cliffnotes to make some vague statement about the themes, but if you press them to elaborate on where these judgements originate, they immediately fold and start melting down.best way to approach is to just ask basic questions and goad them into typing something elaborate: the more they write, the more they reveal the obvious gaps in their thinking.long ago you’d see actual effort-troll hybrids who clearly read the book and know exactly what to say to fuck with people, but it’s so low effort now that it’s strange people continue responding in earnest at all. would not be surprised if half of the responses in those threads are just the OP samefagging to bump, recasting his baited line.
>>24686267who is responsible for this? i bet it's his bitch wife.
>>24686129I don't care about any of that, I just like it when the dumb people do funny things
>>24686285What effort poster in what thread? The first ever Pynchon thread on /lit/?
That's cool OP. Tell us about some more things we don't understand but you do because you're smarter than all of us.
