Do Japanese brains just work in a way where schizo babble makes perfect sense

reading modern japanese is dreadful
>>
>>24689864
Do you mean the literature or the language?
>>
>>24689912
Both. 25% of it is garbled recycled english and the rest is typical honorabul respectful stockphrases with every other sentence has an Onomatopoeia. Imagine if we talked to each other unironically using words like beep boop, kablam, pow, swoosh. Thats japanese

I know right, that'd be ridiculous. Anyway.

After chowing on my squash, I burp, sneeze and squeeze a fart until I fall in bed with a thud. I yawn and snore until I'm awaken by the buzz of a fly and the hiss of a kettle. I grunt and go to the kitchenen, where I cook crack like the quack I am. It sizzles on the rust, the sink gurgles. My stomach has a rumble. Outside the dog woos a bitch and howls while banging. While the sink drips it clicks to me to write a pop jingle.

I almost cum when I hear a Japanese girl yells out 'Yafuuuu!!' and 'Potechi~' to her friends
>>
>>24690028
I mean yeah, that's really shitty writing full of onomatopoeia
Proves his point
>>
>>24689815
But burgers here fellate Pynchon, Tao Lin and Finnegan's wake
>>
>>24690028
It's more like if the word for going in circles was "roundyroundy", or the word for soft was "fluffyfluff", or you said "babump-babump" to indicate your heart was pounding from excitement.

I read In the Miso Soup recently. I kind of hated it but someone told me I don't know enough about Japanese culture to appreciate that the story is a metaphor for... Something. I don't know what the story is a metaphor for.

Quit being obtuse on purpose, you faggot. The point is that english is riddled with this shit.

Ring and spiral are the only good novel in that series, the rest are literal schizobabble
>>
>>24690265
Are they better than the ringu movie? I didn't like it but was interested in reading the book
>>
>>24690269
Incomparable because they are literally different because the movie is a complete remake of that story and not just an adaptation. Personally I like the book more
>>
the white man never should have given the japs literature
>>
>>24690276
Honestly that sounds great to me
>>
>>24690276
hmm. not that guy but I liked the movie. I should read it as well
>>24690279
They already had literature before white men
>>
I wonder if there's any okinawan literature that isn't just from japanese people living in okinawa. Okinawa has a really interesting culture
>>
>>24690153

As someone that knows Japanese it's because the language is very vague and ambiguous. We call it high context language, with English being very explicit and low context.

Japanese writers use this quality of the language to have a lot of passages that could mean a lot of things in different contexts to make it mysterious and creepy.

That literally doesn't work in English. You need to give explicit details. Translators literally needs to give away more details, but to keep the same feeling of the Japanese work they throw in filler "schizo babble" to build the same sense of mystery. However it just doesn't work as well
