>/lit/'s Silksong>7 days away>no hypewhat gives?
The GR reviews are painting a promising picture, so I'll definitely have to take a look once it comes out. One went as far as to say "It could very well be a century-defining novel . . .""The most significant German novel since THE MAGIC MOUNTAIN.A masterpiece in every sense."Alright, alright, fine. Jeez.
>>24690645/lit/'s silksong is the new pynchon novel
>>24690746aint no one excited for the "new" pynchon
>>24690754I am. Looks fun. I like Pynchon, simple as. Some people still read on here, shocking as it may sound.
>>24690746this. we even had multiple threads when his new novel was catalogued to be released.
>>24690766Still, shouldn't we at least discuss what's interesting about the book in the OP since that's what the thread's ostensibly about? Don't tell me it doesn't look at all worthwhile. You can care about two literary works at once. All the discourse I can find on it online is utterly positive. They throw around titles of comparison like Ulysses and GR and IJ, words like "century" and "Literature" with a capital L.
>>24690766you read one pynchon you read em all
>>24690746BASED
>contemporary european doorstopper references kabbalistic mysticismit's like a cliche at this point, the whole encyclopedic novel is cliche. if you want to "explore" renaissance art or the reformation, publish a real history. i don't care about historical musings by some dude from the english department. i'm over this kind of book.
>>24690771What's there to discuss? All any of us has to go off of is that one blogger's review from half a decade ago. Not much to talk aboutEven when it comes out you don't get to have daily threads about it, reading takes fucking time and this is a doorstopper to bootMaybe in a year you will see it gain some traction. Literature is not a hype medium unless it is the midnight release of Harry potter
>>24690824plenty of reviews are starting to come out and they're all raving
>>24690827And? You want to discuss the reviews and get all giddy like a schoolgirl and have a thread of anons going>aww man this is going to be soo good!!Take a hike to r/truelit. See you in a year when someone here will have actually read it and have something to talk about instead of stroking their baby carrot penis to the thought of le century defining masterwork
>>24690810my feelings exactly
>>24690840>>24690837go back to rsbookclub
>>24690645What is it?Why is it good?
i'm excited for both pynchon's octogenarian death rattle and lawson's cuck-by-english metatranslation of Scheißefroh's "psychogeography of the hypersoul" !! i'm excited for spring time wind and winter morning clarity !! i'm excited for my suicide and the amnesia of my next birth (likely as an Indian grub farmer) !! i'm excited for the sun's burn out and the coming post-carrying capacity death of 8 billion human beings by starvation and worse !! we've done it before !! we'll do it again !!
>>24690837Yet people don't complain like this when Pynchon's new novel is announced and people talk about what it'll be like. Whatever. I'm going to get back to my book, since any conversation here's an uphill battle.
>>24690837>>24690847Faggots there are exactly four places on the internet to discuss books. There's r/truelit, there's r/rsbookclub, there's twitter, and there's here. Only here do you have to pretend you've never heard of and never go on the other three.>go back go back go backWe both know you are also on r/rsbookclub.
>>24690865Ah yes, those riveting thread that get all of two replies "commenting" that pynchon sucks now or has always tucked and then proceed to peter out and fall to page 10 in a half hour (slow board)Yeah I am sorry schattenfroh doesn't get the same accolade. It must be frustrating
>>24690888>he immediately outs himself as a redditor Nice going fagI only use that site for my niche fetish. My niche hobbies I'll engage with whirl avoiding interactions with bottom feeders such as yourselfGo back
>>24690856kek wtf
>>24690903same the only reddit i've ever looked at is /r/tickling
>>24690903>there's 4 places online to talk about books and two of them are subreddits, so -- >heckin REDDITOR detected! Heckin LE CRINGE! Alright
warum auf englisch
>>24690645Max Lawton got outed as a hack translator. I see no reason as to why I should trust his translation. He also admitted to not knowing German and how he had to heavily rely on a German language/culture specialist to complete this translation. Lawton is just completely cooked as a translator. There's no reason to trust him. His only justification is "muh accreditations" and "muh I wrote good English prose" and even that last claim is highly questionable.
>>24690888Go back faggitor
>>24690926I didn't start the thread, retard
>>24691077Ok. Then I guess that makes it two of you who need to go back
