Zoomers will watch a 50 minute YouTube video essay by some faggot with a mullet and pedo stash rather than read Mark Fisher

>basedlenniels will read a 500 page book by some faggot with a god complex and a walrus stash rather than have a youtube video playing in the background

I read in a quiet park by my apartment. The majority of people (of all ages) walking by play some random garbage from youtube on their phone speakers. I overhear it and it's always the dumbest shit. This whole modern culture is trash. Accept and ignore it.
>>
There's a paradoxical phenomenon where the zoomer mind, used to 10 second videos expressing one very specific thing, then struggles to express a wider idea with any concision, hence those overly long essays.
I wonder if it's because they never really watched mainstream programming where a show had to fit a schedule and followed a pretty standard framework.

Or maybe the youtube algorithm favors longer video so long winded video essays about nothing are the name of the game and they also make for good content to double screen as you play vidya
>>
>>24693569
Yes, it's this simple. They are designed for second screens, designed to be as surface level and meandering as to require the least amount of concentration while occupying the maximum amount of time, all delivered in cookiecutter suburban monotones.
>>
>>24693569
Blaming the need to game the algorithm ignores that the algorithm simply optimises for what is popular and if these channels could hone their shit down, recommendations would change.
And the vidya thing just compounds the probably, double the length because you're half-listening.

>the algorithm simply optimises for what is popular
Not really, not in the case of YouTube at least. You probably weren't even alive back then but the meta for what is profitable and pushed by YouTube has changed several times pretty much unilaterally and arbitrarily several times since Google bought the site
>>
>>24693578
I'm in my 30s, I definitely do remember how things have changed. Hence why I'm not taking the apathetic "it's the algorithm" excuse, since that has and does change with what is popular and therefore profitable.

>that hat
He's balding isn't he?
>>
I remember back in the early 10s when the algorithm punished videos any longer than 10 minutes so all the professional ranters like The Amazing Banana exclusively made 9~ minute video essays.

>e-celeb thread
I don't know who any of these people are
>>
I usually never sit down and read for more than an hour at a time. I don't know how Zoomers can't sit down and read, yet they do have the attention span for these long-ass videos.
>>
>>24694724
They don't watch then; they play them on their big screen while the remaining fragments of their attention span are occupied polishing their dildos with oil rag, preparing for sundown, at which point their prostrates will be completely crushed by an older man known only as 'daddy'.
>>
>>24693423
I would rather undergo an unanaesthetised appendectomy than read Mark Fisher.
>>
>>24693574
> simply optimises for what is popular
This hasn’t been true since OG Youtube pre Google.
>>
>>24693423
Based zoomers then. Mark Fisher was a Trotskyist double agent seeking to undermine the heartland.

You need minimum 8 minutes to get mid-roll ads which dramatically boost your income

I'll never understand why some men call a moustache and its variants a pedo stache. It's appropriation of the way woman talk and it goes against the very fact such men can possibly grow a moustache and therefore be self sabotaging

It defies all logic. Sage
>>
>>24695837
a pedo stache is just one that looks like shit. look at ops photo and look at his upper lip, its patchier than a pumpkin farmers field
he should shave it and apply topical minix or just wait until he hits 40 to try grow something
>>
>>24693571
The problem is that this lets the viewers come to a false understanding that this is the height of discourse, and they really do lose the ability to communicate more deeply than that.
>>
I've never watched a single one of these yet every recommended video on youtube is some faggot's 45 minute TED Talk about an irrelevant pop culture topic. It's a fucking landfill. Mike Stoklassa and his consequences have been a disaster for the internet.
