Does anyone have any trick for dealing with shit like this? Removing stickers on books without ruining the fucking paperback cover or leaving it permanently sticky?I'm so sick of this shit.
Get the sharpest smallest and straightest knife you can"Cut" the glue little by little with the blade sideways, like you're carving it
>>24696797Irrelevant. Books are for reading. Keeping them in "pristine condition" is a waste of time.
>>24696797Stickers like that don't bother me.I just don't like the RFID stickers and whatnot because they ruin the analog vibe I'm going for when I'm reading print books, reminding me that I'm surrounded by insufferable techbros.
>>24696797depends on a lot of factors, there isn't a single approach that fits all circumstancesfirst thing would be to hit it with a blow dryer or heat gun on low heatthen it depends how the sticker and adhesive react to it
>>24696797Use a hair dryer on it and take a credit card or a knife and slowly work it through the bottom of the sticker till it peels off
>>24696797I can tolerate this shit. What gets me are the "Now on Netflix!" stickers or similar shit. Like why is my book cover an ad now? Netflix could collapse in 5 years and cease to exist and I'm gonna be stuck with this stupid faux sticker on the cover. Another thing that bugs me about my collection are the series I have in paperbacks where every single book is somehow a different height. Thickness I could understand even more so for the final books sure, but why they are different heights I have no idea.
>>24696797Acetone or rubbing alcohol.
>>24697106You do this after you've removed the bulk of the sticker.
>>24696797Peel it off. Rub little circles with a qtip dipped in goo gone, then wipe with a paper towl wetted with ISO. I've sold thousands of paperbacks and this is the way to go. If it's a 60s-70s mass market paperback, don't use the goo gone. The ISO will likely also cause discoloration for those older paperbacks. Newer books have glossier covers that can be restored to like new condition
>>24697105You should have bought the first edition.
Hold a big lighter slightly on the paper until it starts to peel and voila.
>>24697105>reading something that is now on netflixthat's a you problem
>>24699329Bic* a torch lighter would work fine too.
>Sprayed some de-solve-it on it >Left with this, had to stop being it was bleaching the blue out of the coverTh-thanks...
>>24696797use a hair drier or something similar to warm the glue, and it's easily peelable
>>24699398oh you already fucked it, rip.next time try warming the glue
>>24696797Moisten your finger with water and rub it, retard. When it starts to feel sticky again it's time for more water.
