Yes

OP he died liked 200 years ago

And it took me only reading Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus, Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, Descartes, Kant, Nietzsche and a ton of history of philosophy for years to get to this insight.
But at least i now feel a little bit at ease.

You have to read him, besides the literary style, his works could have been written 20 years ago.

Who is he?

>dude Christianity lmao
relic of a bygone age more like
>>

I plan on reading him one day. Jow would you compare with Plotinus? Would you say there is a continuity? Although I'm aware kierk is more of an existentialist

Søren Kierkegaard

I don’t think he is comparable to anyone in classical philosophy, because he is focused so much on the individual (maybe one exception is the confessions by st Augustine). But he is approaching philosophy through the individual experiences and what that means, and that’s why he is so modern despite having written in mid 19th century.

Plotinus would only be comparable in the way he talks about the individual soul turning away from material deception toward the one and ascending towards it. Kierkegaard obviously doesn’t use Neoplatonic vocabulary or reference the same concept in a systematic way but when he talks about sadness or fear he interprets it by their effect on the soul e.g. the process of grief can halt any productive activity in oneself through constant reflection without being able to reach an end. Maybe one could say the Kierkegaard is trying a negative approach to the self while Plotinus has a positive approach (in that he isn’t that concerned with what affects the soul but how the perception of true reality and meditative prayer can achieve ascension), but this would be the only point I can see them coming together.

This incompatible-with-reality retard ruined a whole year for me. I thought that confessing to a muslim girl was a "leap of faith" after having read Fear and Trembling.

Not sure why I followed his steps given his failed love story with Regina Olsen, straight up masochism and being even more retarded than him I guess. She blocked me by the way.

What I know of Kierkegaard is that his tripartite stages (sensual, ethical and religious) seem analogue to Plotinus' tripartition of musician, lover and metaphysician. But this tripartition is universal, as we all know since a lot of authors wrote in different terms only

Philosophers don’t know shit about love. Also don’t mess with Muslim women unless you’re a Muslim, there’s no point really. If you need lady tips check out corey wayne. Philosophy and dating women are not the same.

>Also don’t mess with Muslim women unless you’re a Muslim, there’s no point really.

That's why I did it, I thought that, as it was impossible for me to achieve her love, confessing was an act of true selfless love, similar to how Abraham was willing to sacrifice Isaac. Then I knew true pain and regretted my decision. I was very young at the moment, now I'm way more down to earth, thanks partly to those troubling events.
