Star wars EU books>>>all writing from the 19th century and all philosophers since plato
>>24700162This book gave me a boner>The darkly colored humanoid droid, known here as Ninedenine, looked past her command console in the dungeon's main hall to see the GNK unit slowly rotated to expose the ventral surfaces of its ambulatory appendages. The appendages readjusted their relative positions furiously, uselessly, trying to reorient their center of gravity back to an operational norm. And unlike any droid before or since, unlike any behavior that could be predicted by a logical engineering assessment of her technical specifications, Ninedenine felt a thrill of pleasure as she watched the little droid's futile attempts to avoid damage. The corridor barricade swept open and a snuffling Gamorrean guard shuffled in with two new prisoners. But that did not distract Ninedenine from hungrily observing what happened as the glowing energy inducers were lowered onto the GNK's appendages. In response to the sudden application of heat, coolant fluid vaporized and the relief valves in the Power Droid's outer covering bled off the resultant vapor with a satisfying hiss. Sensing an impending loss of function, the GNK broadcast a futile, wide-spectrum, multiband signal for assistance, some of it actually in the audible frequencies to which most organic life-forms were limited. It was programmed panic, pure and urgent. Like higher-dimensional music to Ninedenine's exquisitely tuned acoustic sensors. Ignoring for the moment the Gamorrean guard and the new prisoners, Ninedenine racked up the gain on her internal receptors, savoring the intensity of it all.
I wouldn’t go that far but the Tales books are better than the movies and way better than the prequels or the sequels
>>24700162I remember this book. They had a story about a jawa who dreamed of taking over tattooine but got killed immediately by a stormtrooper
>>24700203the prequels are amazing tho https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqnjzVX8EKA&ab_channel=RickWorley
>>24700162IThe only books i read are star wars ones and Christian ones
>>24700395The prequels are memorable, definitely not amazing. Half of what made the first trilogy amazing was the novelty of the setting combined with the genre of gunfighter and samurai movie genre. The prequel trilogy has no gunfighters (the scene with Greedo is pure original trilogy) and no samurai. The scene where Obi Wan cuts off the guy’s arm is lifted from Yojimbo (also the basis for a Fistful of Dollar, so Lucas managed to take a unique character and use him as a basis for both Han Solo and Obi Wan—he does this also with Mifune’s character in the Hidden Fortress) where the ronin cuts the guy’s arm off right after the guy brags he has the death sentence and tells the ronin to watch himself. the Soviet spaghetti western comedy white sun of the desert was also a major influence With the prequel trilogy, the influences that made a New Hope such a good film are totally gone. I don’t even know what his inspiration was for the light saber stuff in the new movies, but it isn’t samurai and western flicks. Maybe Chinese martial arts films idk but the cinema is not as good, the characters are not as fresh or interesting
>>24700432im sorry to say ur wrong about prequels
>>24700436The influence of these sorts of movies is simply absent from the prequels. Lucas is a creative genius but if he doesn’t start with material that’s already grade A, he won’t craft anything above B
>>24700443sorry but ur wrong
>>24700162Is this true?
>>24700547yeah
>>24700558The Anzati guy was the creepiest>muh soup

He later joined a team of mercenaries and bounty hunters assembled by Xizor to track down the mercenary Limna Yith, who had stolen a datacard that contained a list of every Black Sun operative in the Verde system. The team pursued her to the planet Sedri, where they learned that she was on her way to an underwater village. Maliss and the others arrived first and massacred the village's residents, but they were soon joined by Yith, held captive by a team of smugglers who were working in opposition to them. A lightfight broke out that saw many of Maliss's allies killed, and the Dashade attempted to escape and fight another day.

>>24700625this is a good listhttps://www.reddit.com/r/TheJediPraxeum/comments/14nxtgw/star_wars_eu_reading_order_the_road_to_the_new/
>>24700635my libarry has the thrawn trilogy so perfect.
I only read the Zahn books but found them to be great. Perfect blend of all the Star Wars elements with maybe a greater emphasis on military and political elements.>>24700432Definitely agree that prequels are not amazing. They have more redeeming elements than the Disney sequels but there are a lot of aspects that just don't deliver.
>>24700162I used to really like the Star Wars EU books when I was a kid. I read the first few New Jedi Order books and the Dark Nest Trilogy, and all of the Young Jedi Knights seriesNew Jedi Order was cool, I thought the Yuuzhan Vong were fucking badass
