they seem interesting
>>24701895I enjoyed them. The other book Princeton publishes, believe it is called The Nart Sagas, provides more of a narrative if memory serves, I think Tales of the Narts was more a collection of random stuff. Don't quite remember which was which and part of me thinks I have it backwards and am putting too much stock in the titles. I can check when I get home if you want/want to just read one of them. Think I might reread these soon.
lmao fuckin narts
>>24701926thanks bro, I might pick both of them up today
>>24702456i narted
NART
/lit/ making middle-school style jokes about books would be vaguely amusing and charming (in the sense that it's something you wouldn't see in truly insufferable lit communities on reddit or whatever), but when it's paired with the lack of anything to actually contribute it's just kind of pathetic. i'm very interested in reading these, it's indo-european so i'm sure it has a lot of value for comparative study, especially if you're interested in the nomadic iranic peoples who were perhaps the last of the indo-europeans to fully maintain the roving conqueror ethos.
>>24702468I did have it backwards, Nart Sagas goes through the stories of different regional Nart traditions and does not provide as full of a narrative, more about showing the differences between the traditions. Tales of the Narts is the full narrative, the epic. Tales of the Narts is the one to start with.
>>24703960thanks for clarifying, brudda.
>>24703871I'm also interested in it's supposed connection to the Arthurian mythos
>>24703871I have them on my wishlist.
>>24704053My memory of the Narts says the connection is built on those common and generic aspects that are found in many ancient traditions and can not be demonstrated in any remotely conclusion fashion. But I could be wrong, been a good while since I have read either. I just skimmed the front matter for the Narts and did not see any mention of Arthur, but it was just a quick skim. I suspect any connection is more interesting in its suggesting a possible connection and not something which can be demonstrated. If you have any links for stuff on this I would be interested in them.
to what extent do the caucasian peoples have similar folklore and mythology? I know linguistically they're all very dissimilar.
>>24704053King Arthur: The Making of a Legend has a section on it.
>>24704103They all share the Nart tradition I think
>>24701895I was reading one of those Narts books. I think it was the sagas one. And then a woman is raped by a black. I stopped there.
>>24701895Yes. They're great. My favorite is Saga 33, How Khimishuquo Pataraz Won the Three Magical Whetstones, with a mother and daughter arguing over who should get the biggest gangbang, but picrel is pretty fun too.

>>24704099I don't have any links, but I do plan on reading From Scythia to Camelot
>>24704099this might actually be an interesting read thoughhttps://ossetians.com/eng/news.php?newsid=370
