Can you guys recommend me some books on the history of the automotive industry? Interested in reading about all the big companies and how they were founded, and what the means were. Thank you.

I was told to read Fordlandia, but I can't confirm its quality
But if you're interested in Post-Fordism more generally (the long-term impacts of Henry Ford's Welfare Capitalism within late stage capitalism), Rifkin's The End of Work (1995 version) is a good starter
If you want actual car autism books, sorry I don't have any experiences with those

I'm just interested in the history of it

You'll need to rely on other anons for that then sorry, my only experience with Ford is in terms of macro-economic trends (Mass Production to Mass Catering models)

lol I legit hate economics (math)
>>

It's a little less math and a little more sociology
Work relations, legal responsibilities, the rise of gig economies (work rooted in temporary contractualization rather than stable employment), etc
For some, it's the start of humanity moving towards social markets rather than economic markets. For others, it's the last stage of our embrace of the Alienation of Life (work and life are now synonymous)

look up Ford vs Dodge
tells you all you need to know about why everything sucks and est.

Fords autobiography talks about Ford's history a bit, but Sorenson's My 40 Years With Ford is probably better.
Ohno talks a bit about Toyota in The Toyota Production System but probably not enough for your interests.
Sorry I'm interested in manufacturing so that's all I have.
