What is your experience discussing literature with zoomers?
>>24702732I am a zoomer. I firmly believe that our generation is the best to have ever existed. There is no generation that understands the nuances of human discourse and relation better than us.But I have never talked about books irl because no friends (skull emoji) (dead flower emoji)

>>24702732Pretty good. A lot of zoomers I've talked with have been motivated by their parents to read since a very young age, so they're usually well-read and intelligent while also being a normal, grounded person.
>>24702732In groups, they're burnt out with reading because they know none of what they do will matter given the state of the world and the job market. They're what happens if the Baby Boomers grew up in a dystopia. Expect them to see less value in reading than in vaping and playing videogames (which, to be fair, is a lot nicer than reading if you want to make memories with friends)In one-on-one conversations, some of them are really looking for guidance in their lives and want to get into books but don't know how. Their authority figures fail them when it comes to literacy, their peers ridicule attempts at reading, and public figures seem to have all the answers at best and none of the answers at worst (both outcomes discourage reading in different ways)The key to keeping literature alive is to inspire the youth. You need to make them curious - everything will follow from there. Their circumstances at the moment prevent them from being curious, in favor of the pragmatisms of the modern world. If we believe in the existence of structural problems, then we need to admit that structural problems affect everybody rather than individualizing accountability as if these kids are isolated from these structural issues
I have no interactions with zoomers.
>>24702732Very few. I was born '82 and occasionally see them at my house but they're not readers to my knowledge.
>>24702732Well I think they should attack the zoomers, er, first with bombs, and rockets destroying their homes, and then when they run helpless into the streets, mowing them down with machine guns. And then of course releasing the vultures. I know these views aren't popular, but I have never courted popularity.

>>24702895>>24702979>zoomcels have all the reactionary dysfunctions of being raised by totalitarian leftism but like based and redpilled /pol/ is a lobotomy
Zoomers are illiterate
>>24703028@grok what this mean
>>24702732I usually get the feeling they've only read the cliff notes and not the book.
>zoomer 1 is redpilled race realist but cannot compute when I tell him being functionally illiterate and using AI to write book reports makes him no better than a nigger>zoomer 2 "likes greek mythology ", by which he means percy jackson but doesn't read because dyslexia >zoomer 3 has never read a book that wasn't forced upon him in highschool >zoomer 4 is too retarded for me to even try the conversation, is the most based because we wrestle

>>24703136There is a surprisingly wide range of ages of anons on here I’ve legitimately heard of 11 year old anons existing (I pray for their development my days) A lot of people have been on here from pre teens to adulthood.

>>24702732I got back into reading and writing after a lengthy slump because of this 20 year old kid that's infectiously enthusiastic about literature. I needed that sort of attitude in my jaded ass life.
>>24703083>but cannot compute when I tell him being functionally illiterate and using AI to write book reports makes him no better than a niggerif you are an actual nationalist or supremacist this stuff doesn't matter, the lowest of your kin will be worth more than any other>>24702732how many old troons are ITT? seems like a lot
I met one who claims to love reading. He spends all his time playing Paradox games and posting George Floyd memes.
>>24703462Typical burger
>>24703222>how many old troons are ITT????
>>24702732I'm a zoomer and the only other people I seriously discuss literature with are 2 of my other zoomer friends. Basedlennials and older, from my experience, are more mindbroken from television and social media and are disinterested in lit.>>24702893Are you encountering these people in real life because I've never seen maladjusted /pol/trannies outside of social media>>24702767same here
>>24703564see?folx in this thread must read marx
>>24702756Omg so freakin true>>24702732All the ones I know don't read.
>>24702732>Oh you read? Haha that's crazy. I could never sit down and focus on a book. Do you like audiobooks? There's this one I'm listening to called "48 laws of power" -Groundbreaking stuff bro.
>>24703644>bruh I’m like an entrepreneur I got dat dawg in me frfr
>>24703609>are you encountering maladjusted /pol/trannies outside of social media Yes, although the one I posted was from an online interaction. Here's an IRL one I've experienced >at parish>zoomer friends are big into the 3rd Reich stuff,Hitler and nazi Germany >tell them about Schmorrel, Peradze, and Bishop Gorazd.>they look in awe>they continue worshipping Hitler>sigh.
>>24703018>I'm not a huge fan of hate/hatred. I'd much rather have love and peace, or peace and love.hard times create strong men. You're seeing it in your fellow zoom zooms.
>>24702732I work at a middle school. The only zoomers who I see reading classic literature or history are the high IQ boys and quiet undiagnosed autistic girls who can mask effectively. Everyone else is reading YA slop, trashy romance, manga, or books about sports, athletes, and animals. It could be worse, though. I'm a bit grateful that they are reading anything at all. My middle school experience had almost NOBODY reading. It does upset me whenever the kids look at me in awe or when they're impressed when they see me reading. They're like "whoa, Mr Anon reads" and act like I'm doing something alien. It is nice whenever any of them take an interest in what I'm reading, though.
>>24702732All zoomers are hylics
>>24702732I'm the oldest of zoomers, 28. Born in 1997. What do you want to talk about? In 7th grade a test said I had a college age reading level.
>>24704822you're delusional. why would they make the cutoff 1997 of all years when they can just do 2000? you need to get a grip
>>24704827so they could fit in honor levy
>>24702732Most zoomers I've talked to have just talked about whatever PS5 game or capeshit movie they just watched. One read a few comic books.
>>247048271997-2012 are zoomers. Sorry bucko, I don't make the rules.
>>24704827Hes right. Although theres a subtle difference between early zoom zooms (97 - 04) and late zoomers (05 - 12)
>>24702732Good. Because I am zoomer who reads literature. I only really talk about it seriously with one of my friends though, others aren't that interested. I've found people regardless of age usually don't give a fuck about reading and when they do it's mostly slop like webnovels, romance and low brow fantasy. Nothing wrong with that (kinda) but I share nothing in common with these people.>>24704898>I'm an early zoomerit's over
>>24702732Zoomers are a very smart and capable generation. They pretend to not be, but they really are. More are reading literature than one would think, it's not just women fapping to "they booktok books" with their "hands free kindle holder". I've had pleasant experiences discussing literature with my fellow zoomers. I've also discussed literature with boomers before and they're far more retarded.
>>24702799Do the zoomers just show up unannounced in your living room?
No proper analysis has yet been written about the unique condition of the zoomer, either because the owl of minerva simply hasn't flown yet, or because said condition fundamentally prevents us from writing such an analysis. In any case, the current zoomer moment is principally characterized by a) a hyper-acute individualism that arises in part from extreme social alienation, and b) a kind of psychosis that prevents them from having a calm mind and subsequently bars them from self-reflection (ADHD is the descriptive symptom). Zoomers curate themselves intensely, but at the same time are extremely afraid of encountering themselves in any real capacity. The toy discourse of wokeness and racism that has plagued the last decade is really less significant for zoomers than it was for late millennials, partially because zoomers have sublimated the tenets of either wokeness or racism into themselves and rejected the other wholecloth, leaving no need to constantly reiterate their principles and prove their merit as object. It's a very strange and fucked up kind of predicament. I think that some of us are beginning to understand ourselves and our place in the world, but we have a long way to venture yet
As a GenX / Slacker ('69), in high school, no phones, no tablets. Most everyone in middle school / high school carried a paperback with them. I don't think we read Tolstoy or Jung back then. I read mostly Sci-Fi or Fantasy. The cell phone just replaced the paperback.
autisticly regurgitation of wikipedia entries and citing good reads statistics.
>>24705026Also genx, while many carried books, most did not read, it was just a fashion accessory. The exception being people like you who did not understand fashion and thought you were just doing what everyone did. Those who were actually interested in literature (I don't mean that as an insult, read what you like, just drawing the line between reading and an interest in lit) were in the minority by a long shot.
>>24702732They don't read. Zoomer pussy is fucking amazing though.
>>24705041You are probably right, I have two Gen Z kids, and I have never caught them reading on their own when they were in school. My oldest is now 28 and finally discovering the joy of reading. As a kid, I was a constant reader.
>>24705055Kill yourself, sex-haver
>muh boomiewoomiezoomies xDGeneration tribes are just astrology for regressive Amerifats who want a framework for blaming children for the garbage society they're created instead of fixing itThis is not the 1960s when old people grew up without electricity and young people had Woodstock, you are all the same post-2000 assholes who grew up with cartoons and video games and anime. Only difference between you is amount of nose hair and back problemsAnybody who buys into this juvenile fucking dogshit sounds like a teenage girl arguing about what Hogwarts house they'd be part of
>>24704850>>24704892>>24704898it doesnt make sense and its a cope for people born before 2000 you will forever be known as millies, get used to it. ahahahhaaaa
>>24705546Well said. The sooner we get generational cooperation, the quicker things will improve. This pointless conflict is just friction. And friction causes unnecessary wear and wastes energy.
>>24702732I'm tired of balding millennials acting like boomers.
>>24703162Chill broski you arent an adult until you can rent a car anyways
>>24705949Millenials ruin everything. Expect steep increases in nostalgia as each individual millenial begins to experience the blurring of past and present. Despite the criticism they received once the boom sets in there will be an increase in >muh not muh generation. Looking forward to the zoomboom.
>>24702732Good, because I talk about it with my fellow former students from the humanities. My experience discussing literature with americans, however...
Most normies don't really read anything outside of stuff like Harry Potter. Ocasionally I have met dudes that might have read the greeks or a philosopher like Nietzsche, but even then, their comprehension of it is very limited. I'm yet to find someone that's really into literature besides my college professors
>>24703001I wasn't bullied into silence, most of these zooms just weren't interested in hearing a differing opinion or viewpoint on lit. I also was busy

>>24702761holy shit
