what the fuck happened to commies, accelerationist trannies, gnostic schizos, failed poets, waah waah pessimists, cultural theory arm chairs fags, incels, chuddhists/vedanta jeets, christcucks, nazioids, basedence/woo-woofags?

i dunno lads somethings is fucking missing. i use to see eternal marx, incel literature, pessimist and christcuck threads. what the fuck happened to them? they made this place more fun.

Every board is down in population, the hack convinced people to leave permanently, and there's a noticeable uptick in bots and AI posts. That's just how it be.

/lit/ culture stays more or less the same, the topics shift with the years.
>I used to see eternal marx, incel lit, pessimist, and christcuck threads
When I first started posting here (like 2012?) the topics were the meme trilogy, Harold Bloom memes and quotes, David Benatar, Tao Lin and alt-lit, with some marx and christcuck threads thrown in. Five or six years ago /lit/ wouldn't shut the fuck up about Girard.

An intense political environment has made people incurious. Philosophies are now being adopted downstream of political positions rather than the other way around. This carries a risk in exploring different philosophical movements because it might inadvertently cause a compromise on politics which have become more fundamental in some way.
It's not specifically 4chan that's at fault, the entire internet is now like this.

I guess I'd still consider this my homeboard, but with how slow it's gotten and the overwhelming spam of Nietzsche and Dostoyevsky threads by newfag broccoli heads, I mostly shizopost on /x/ now. A lot of philosophy already reaches eerie and schizo conclusions (at least by the standards of naive realism), so I often find better conversation there than among the /pol/ migrants and pop-existentialists that infest this board.
>>
the other day, /g/ caught a bunch of bots. across multiple boards you could see almost the exact same posts, completely irrelevant to whatever thread they were posted in. only a couple of words were changed, but even the formatting was exactly the same.

hiro did a really good job, he made the site so bad people left forever. which is exactly what the japanese posters warned us about.

Cycles of decay and rebirth. A harsh winter will let the young buds in the spring grow strong, and when summer comes, their fruit will be enjoyed by all. Sometimes a pruning is necessary, there is no better or worse, just what there is and over time it will improve if you apply yourself consistently.

text board, so no images to distract you. The purpose of the site is to discuss the humanities. Invite-only to prevent brigading, trolling, and bots. No captchas!
>>
>>24716288
Hmmm. On one hand, I'm a master of many boards, and I have two humanities degrees. On the other, it seems like a very small community and my two-ish decades of instant gratification may not translate well given the size and scope. Like why wont this be another Chan that dies in 6 months? I wish you well, but I must ponder.

I am also 403 Forbidden, is the United Kingdom also rangebanned?
>>
>>24716310
My hope is that as the web becomes ever more enshittified and an ocean of bots and chaos, byzantinus.net will be a rather serene refuge of order where people can discuss the humanities, local cultures, traditions, etc, in peace. It being invite-only makes it more resistant to the degeneration of open spaces, because it prevents drive-by trolling and low-effort-posting, since one could lose their login code or be banned for inviting many trolls. I do not tolerate offtopic or low effort post, you have 4chan for that.

I know that the conditions do not make it conductive for very casual light discussion, and that will hurt adoption, but I think it is a worthy tradeoff.

Hosting and dns are cheap so I can run it for years.

I didn't read your rambling because you're a frogposter, and as a rule of thumb, you niggers never have nothing of value to say never, but here's this
>/lit/ is dying
If i have to take a guess, that's because reading has become a somewhat fringe hobbie or endevour. People who actually have devotion to reading what they like just don't waste time with pseuds discussing "philosophy", "religion" or "self help" or whatever late grifting come across except for the occasional knee jerk reaction to shit and sage on it. As a result, bots, fags and glowies alike ignore this board almost completely, and shills are at minimum as well. The rest of the boards are active because lesser mediums get more attention, but it's mostly because of the current state of affairs in the world and their impact of them; novels doesn't get this much traction because the attention it's no longer there, it's in the visual, more retard friendly stuff. I would say that the only bastion on the web for the truly dedicated to reading and writing at this point is pic related. Everything else sucks.

the nature of the board means it will never be popular, besides Philosophy/classics the range of material is too wide, and reading is too time consuming, to ever have the robust kind of dialogue that more easily consumable media like MU and TV brings. People will post an interesting book and even reading a solid 1-2 hours hours per day, and my current list means I'd get to it 6 months later.

People in general are just reading less

I can only guess moderation is on overdrive due to 4chan being in the lawsuit against the UK.
There used to be a Dragonball thread on /a/ 24/7 with schizos and shitposters but now it's a wasteland, anyone tries posting and half the thread is deleted posts.

People are either banned or driven away.

You guys are just dumb. Only thing that's changed since the hack is the jannies/mods have become just that much more paranoid/despotic. The day-to-day site-wide population is the same.
