Who is your favorite writer who did not with the Nobel Prize for Literature?
Plato
>>24715195Plato could maybe, maaaaybe win a Pulitzer, but he’d never warrant a Nobel. He’s not that good.
Off the top of my head, it's a toss-up between Junichiro Tanizaki and Jorge Louis Borges. Both were nominated so they at least had a chance
mishima or cather.
>>24715190actual good question
>>24715495>Mishima No, no, no, NO, no, noooooNo
A harder question would be my favorite write who has won a Nobel prize.
Pynchon will fetch his own any time now...
>>24715190test
>>24715190Assuming this to be among those who were eligible but are no longer: McCarthy.
Nikos Kazandzakis
>>24716339You’re out of your fucking mind if you think he had a chance
>>24716632Buddy I said he was eligible.
>>24715190Carson McCullers and Ted Hughes (Heaney won in 1995 so Hughes could've been in the running)
>>24716638Pal you’re out of your fucking mind if you think he was even in the running
>>24715190David Bowie
>>24716720This. Pulitzer sure but Nobel peace prize? No way Jose.
>>24716998we're talking about the nobel prize for literature not peace.
>>24715190Shakespeare
Sartre
>>24715190Fun question. I think either James or Borges. Just noticed Joyce never won one, so Joyce. Suppose the really interesting modernists didn't start getting nobels until the 1940s Waiting out captcha: Nabokov didn't win either? I'll stick w/ Joyce. Actually teaching Portrait in an undergrad seminar later this semester and really looking forward to it
