I only physically own 3 books. The rest of the books I’ve read (1086 to be exact) have been off of the iPhone book app.

is a matte screen protector enough for prolonged reading on a tablet? don't want to buy some e ink reader, I already own a tablet
>>
I stopped buying physical books and pared down my collection years ago. I only read ebooks now. I got tired of lugging a shit ton of boxes every time I moved so I could hang on to books I have already read.
>>

Books are mainly decoration now anyway. Just display your favorites and keep the rest on a device

>I stopped buying physical books and pared down my collection years ago. I only read ebooks now.
I did this but then realized how terrible of a decision it was when my Kindle died.
>>
I do 99% of my reading on my phone. I lost my ereader. I will buy a new one, soon, now that I've returned to work.
>>
>>24719710
I just read them as .pdf files on my PC. Surely you have that?
>>
>>24719216
>1086
Bullshit. List them.
>>
>>24719710
nigga for the price of 5-10 books you can buy a new one.
i still have my first kindle and works totally fine, it's not a common issue anyway.

Physical books are kino anyways, and as time has passed I've read on audio more and more too. If I ever really need to reference a book while out and about or for whatever reason I just download it and read it using ReadEra.

The library is for fags.
>>
>>24720229
One of the few good things your taxes go to, and you call it for fags? For shame.
>>
>>24719216
Isn't reading physical books better for reading comprehension and remembering what you read?
>>
>>24720232
>One of the few good things your taxes go to
That's debatable.
>>
>>24720223
Yeah, I love my library card, but sadly 99% of people are subhumans, so the library books are all dirty, sticky and full of notes on the pages. I still check them out, but desu it's disgusting.
>>
>>24720237
You can go to your local library, right now, look around for a book that seems interesting, then sit down and read. You don't even need to check it out, you can just enjoy a few hours of a place where silence is mandatory and nobody bothers you. I thought that'd be your whole thing, you anti-social autists.
>>
>>24720242
Can't vape in the library.
>>
>>24720242
Your library really is quiet? Good for you, because most of them nowadays are full of noisy children and loud subhumans who use the free wifi there. At home it's quieter than at a library.
>>
>>24720246
I highly recommend trying libraries near or even on college campuses. You'll find that most of the people there are either overworked students cramming for a quiz or fellow autists who also just want to read. You can also, y'know, just check it out and go home.
>>24720245
Nevermind, never go to a library.
>>
>>24720247
>check it out and go home
I'd unironically rather buy it on the 'zon. That way I'm not rushed to finish it.
>>
>>24720250
>rushed to finish it.
You have, on average, about a month to finish it. And if you can't, just renew it. It really isn't that hard.
>>
>>24720252
No, fuck that. I also don't appreciate having to wait for a book, and 99% of what I read my local library wouldn't have anyways.
>>
>>24720256
There's interlibrary loans you can use for such books.
>>
>>24720257
No, fuck it. I hate the uncertainty. I'd rather just own it.
>>
>>24720259
It's a waste of money to own books, when libraries exist.
>>
>>24720218
does your momma read you books at night too?
jesus.
the number of fags is increasing by the hour, maybe alex jones was right about the frogs.

audiobooks have lower retention, are a passive (cuck) experience where the reader controls the timing and pace, and rereading sentences to have deeper thoughts is practically a fool's errand.
most people do it to multitask and they constantly zone out.
>>
>>24720242
>a place where silence is mandatory and nobody bothers you.
Twenty years ago this was true. Now libraries are just glorified daycare for the homeless.
>>
>>24720628
I'm transcendentally homeless

No backup: deserved.
One backup is none.
2 local copies, one offsite is backed up.
You can get gigantic TB drives and set the backups automatically as soon as you connect the device. No excuse these days.
>>
>>24719216
I own hundreds and hundreds of books because I've gone to the same thrift store at least once per week for about 15 years
>>
>>24719216
Have you tried buying less shitty books and instead spending more on nice editions of books you reread?
>>
>>24720242
Library standards are pretty shit in the US and they’re always the ones complaining. The library attracts mainly the young (and parents of), the elderly and students around here. With kids around it’s often loud but they have dedicated study rooms in most places that are sound proofed if you need that and don’t just pop in earbuds with noise cancellation.

We don’t really have homeless, at any rate they have better things to do than sit in the library. It’s a bit less of a social hub than before and with more digital lending you increasingly don’t need to visit. Which is a blessing and curse. It gets easier for the pols to argue for the closure of unused space hungry libraries.
>>
>>24719216
Enjoy your eye cancer. Should have bought an e-reader.
>>
>>24719216
Which three books?
>>
>>24720223
Have fun being put on a list when they don't like what you read.
>>
>>24720223
Unfortunately not all libraries are created equal. Mine is filled with nothing but airport novel booktok romantasy garbage. The entire library system it’s in isn’t much better. And they don’t participate in ILLiad inter library loan system so cant get shit from real libraries.
