I stopped buying physical books and pared down my collection years ago. I only read ebooks now. I got tired of lugging a shit ton of boxes every time I moved so I could hang on to books I have already read.

>>24720242Library standards are pretty shit in the US and they’re always the ones complaining. The library attracts mainly the young (and parents of), the elderly and students around here. With kids around it’s often loud but they have dedicated study rooms in most places that are sound proofed if you need that and don’t just pop in earbuds with noise cancellation. We don’t really have homeless, at any rate they have better things to do than sit in the library. It’s a bit less of a social hub than before and with more digital lending you increasingly don’t need to visit. Which is a blessing and curse. It gets easier for the pols to argue for the closure of unused space hungry libraries.
