>>24719518nietzsche won
>>24719514>look up my favorite books>90% of them have a comment about throwing the book at a wall in angerfeels weirdly validating but also makes me question just how many of them are lying
>>24719514Literature should have never been geared towards normies holy shit
It's pretty icky to ''review'' and rate a personal diary that was never meant to be published
>>24719514This dude has a dog, cool haircut, Airpod pros, a girlfriend probably and what do you have? A bunch of poxy philosophical crap no doubt.
the title is "the diary of a rapist"
>>24720057review seems pretty reasonable then
Your right, I don't have anything to say about a book. I guess I'll just shut up and go back to reading and not giving up fake opinions for another 35 years while I am not dead and buried yet
>>24719519Okay but that's literally true.
>>24719514What does poxy mean?
I love looking at BookTok girlies' one star reviews of classic works. They all read the same books too

>>24719514he's right, it's a worthless book
>>24720456>>24720368Industrial society and its consequences (the education system) have been a disaster for the human race
>>24720057What the fuck was she expecting with that title?
>>24719514i don't think this is dumb, but I do find it funny
So, a dumb book review is one missing the schizo rant?
>>24719683People think they want Marcus Aurelius when what they really want is Seneca
>>24720456>Literally the only review in the entire thread that isn't braindead and it's a fat black womankek
>>24720456fair
Found this one the other day, had a good laugh with the boys over it. Its for Shadow of the Torturer
>>24721986Epictetus is the best
>>24722636this is reddit tier obscenity laced humor
She's right though, it has to be said.. There's simply no way a frog (or even a toad) could effect a daring prison break disguised as a washerwoman. It's just not happening.
>>24719514Meditations deserves worse
I can't for the life of me detect any irony in the second sentence here.
>>24719683meleg-e vagy
>>24719659How so? Nietzsche died a miserable death. His entire philosophy is nothing but cope
Poor Rachel. Imagine making so little impression on your teacher he assigns you two books at random.Title is unguessable, I think. It's Emma by Jane Austen.
>>24719642
Poor Maggie. I sometimes wonder how life is treating her. I hope she's well and happy. The book: Waiting For Godot by Samuel Beckett
>>24720221I've been doing active imagination latelyI think it's really interesting. Jung was a legend, I've learned a lot from what I've read of his worksApparently my unconscious has a severe hatred of my brother
Mika does have a point. The main character lives for over two thousand years which we now know to be impossible.Book: She by H. Rider Haggard.
>>24719519Goat review
>>24723643It really is amazing. Have done some myself. My self image is that of a putrid, sick, disgusting angel at the bottom of the sea. But the red book itself is highly overrated. Its like reading someones dream journal.
>>24720057kek
>>24723642>a book is bad because it made me sadI swear, we're approaching a society where media is divided between the most sanitized, cookie-cutter, feel-good shit for manchildren and womanchildren, and the most depraved, dpressing, Bataillean shit imaginable just to spite the infantilization of culture. I already see the divide among zoomers, they're either still watching kids cartoons and anime, or they're watching the most edgy shit imaginable
>>24720368mutt woman defending blacks online. how gross and tiresome
>>24719519Its true. I expected racism.
>>24724327One thing I could never understand about people is how even back in the previous century did not understand simple things such as that a story's plot or a specific event did not mean that the author wants you to do it. As well as how people think that if a character causes you distress or is an asshole then he is badly written. One gripe I have with a lot of stories with anti-heroes is that they idolize them when the point of the story is that they are bad and a corruption of justice. Not saying heroes should be all like superman but the problem relies on the readers this time. I can cite some anti-heroes I think were right from books/comics, like V de vendetta.
>>24724351(Correction: the story is not the one idealizing them but the watchers and fandom, and also my point is that a story that causes you distress is often perceived as bad even thought it fulfills its purpose.)
>>24719519Brilliant analysis lmao
>>24724327Is there any reason to believe that laymen didn't have a similar reaction to Beckett contemporarily? I imagine a lot of people heard of Waiting for Godot because it was a sensation at the time but were alienated and frustrated by it. Had my grandmother tried to read it, that's the kind of thing I'd expect her to say
>>24720428Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Anyone who tries to be "objective" in a review is a dishonest coward. If you like something, rate it highly. If you dislike something, rate it poorly.
>>24724450Yeah but there is people who dislike something in a non-fair way. Like an horror fan saying a kid's movie is bad because there is no scary things. This happens a lot in all sorts of media, where people judge other genres of content based on their tiny or centralized world view.
>>24724450Still, they read a book called Diary of a Rapist.Literally what would you expect?
>>24719661What book
>>24724629Not anon but Heart of Darkness comes to mind having negative reviews for racism and colonialism. Fairly common with older books to be considered insensitive.
>>24720456I used to work with this chick, she made everything about race/white privilege/ etc (even though most of the staff was Mexican)
Decided to check C&P and most of them boils down to>It's boring>It's too long>The characters are overly dramaticThe first one I could excuse, but too long? the edition I have is roughly 800 pages and that nothing compared to whatever fantasy series is trending rnAnd being overly dramatic is kinda the fun part of the novel
>>24724789What is C&P? I know I can google search it but... it sounds too similar to another thing. Why is the fantasy genre so used for this kind of stuff? Is because women like the half-animal characters or is because of Disney movies?
>>24724796So weird he/she never mentioned pedophilia at some point.
>>24724327> le current times, they are le worstMany centuries ago, the Book of Job was amended to include “and then the mothafucka got rich again”. It might be the most well known example of not getting it... that you couldn't remember.
>>24720456>American lady talking books and raceyeah nah
>>24724794Crime and punishment
Not goodreads, but some of you are aware you can have Dracula emailed to you in the form of diary entries as they chronologically line up to real dates. Anyway, some young redditors had to bail because they couldn’t deal with the “misogny” of gothic romanticism.
>>24722637Nah, Seneca gets more practical and into the nitty gritty
>>24724796This is great lmao
>>24724796I thought sodomy was expressly forbidden between freemen and boys in Athens, and the punishment was deaththighjobs on the other hand...
>>24725326Is the Roman Empire femboy meme true?
>>24725326Sodomy was impolitic to mention in good company, but not illegal, as far as I know. If Aristophanes is any indication, it would have been hard to find a man in Athens who wasn't "wide-assed"
>>24725341Like that farmer chicken meme?
