Thoughts on the Perseus and Medusa myth?

Myth?
>>
Is there a single female creation of art that isn't based on their horniness or their resentment of the world?

This statue is so fucking funny holy shit:
- identifying yourself as an inhuman monster that terrorizes people who get close to it
- proclaiming your self hatred and terror at being observed
- how the fuck did she cut off his head with a sword he'd be stone (failed to understand the basics of what you're lampooning award)
- typical female body-self insecurity
Boy oh boy do I wish I was gay.

Taking you literally yes; taking the impulse behind your words no. Women are usually laser focused on their (chaotic) internal worlds and the internals of the social system around them.

I just want to see dead Greeks—it is why I read Illiad. Tell me I'm wrong. Tell Euripedes I am wrong.

I don't get it. Medusa turned her enemies to stone so reversing the role where she lop off Perseus's head just doesn't make sense. Sure, you can read some of-the-moment political commentary into it but as far as interacting with the myth and symbolism it's laughably shallow. What there is to say about the statue exemplifying the pervasive sense of ugliness and cliche undermining art as a whole carries far more weight than the rote political conversation the artist obviously expects.

Garbage. Complete and total garbage.

The problem virgin men have with visualizing the vagina is that they think the slit is on the “front” of the groin, when it’s actually more to the bottom.

Medusa got quite fucked over by a goddess and is a very tragic villain.

A woman with a penis just doesn't make sense.

Shall we use Robert Graves' White Goddess or do you want a more esoteric meta-characterisation of the function of mythic sexual desire.

For the Queen to murder the prince is the *correct sexual function of White Goddess myth.* This is the myth restored to its proper place. We cannot see her vicious rape of Perseus, not Perseus' flaying. My problem is that she is insufficiently a sexy snake, and that the maiden and crone have been deleted from the statue, leaving just mummy fuck.

The bronze statue of Medusa facing a stone statue of Perseus would have been better.

A lot better but it would lose the "girl power" aspect the artist wanted to express.

I've been with a few women in my life and one thing I've noticed is that the female anus is incredibly close to the vagina, in fact they're barely an inch apart.

I'm not sure about other guys - but doesn't this disturb you? It feel like a design flaw in women actually -- like they're supposed to be so feminine and beautiful yet this ghastly little oversight is ruining everything.

Somehow it feels to me that women should be more aware of this flaw and it should affect their confidence. Whenever I see a so-called beautiful woman walking down the street so care-free thinking she's all that I just remember her anus is only 1 inch away from her pussy and laugh her into oblivion.

Women: Please accept that they're too close together, let it negatively affect your confidence and so make yourselves more readily available sexually as a result. Afterall, we're having to sleep with a creature whos ANUS is only 1 inch away from the vagina --- you should not make this difficult. It's unappetizing enough as it is. We're doing you a favour.

Men: Do not let women forget this flaw, and do not forgive them for it. Remind them of it constantly less they get inflated egos and think they're all that

They're just too close together, sorry, but its true.

its not abnormal to use oneself or friends and family as models for paintings and sculptures.
