I just wanted to say I absolutely loved this book as a kid and loved the sequel Speaker for the Dead. I plan on getting into Xenocide as well.

I also heard the final book just came out and I'm excited to get into it but it also brings in the "Shadow" series. I've never read them how are they?

if you mean enders shadow it focuses on bean (the guy that was enders shadow in the second half of the first book, believe it or not) its pretty good. more than that though is it adds a ton of further infomation of whats happening to ender and the group and earth after ender fucks off
xenocide was the best book imo but ive heard other people say otherwise so yymv

The newer books, and especially the most recent one, suck. I liked the 4 Ender books and the 4 Shadow books quite a lot but he really lost it after that. The Last Shadow was genuinely bad and didn't even feel like the same series.

You're not a fan of the prequel books like Earth Unaware?

>Play Starcraft

Shadow series follows the same genre (military thriller) and if you enjoyed that aspect of EG you'll enjoy Shadow more than Speaker (which is more of a psychological mystery than anything else).

OSC in general is a very hit or miss writer. His micropowers series is absolute trash for example, to the point I wonder how it was even published. Also his schtick gets repetitive really fast.

I only read Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow so idk much about the rest of the series but Shadow was basically the same book as Game, just different enough that it was still interesting. If you liked Shadow, read Game.

Ender's Game has one very obvious flaw: as you approach the end of the book, it becomes increasingly obvious that there's a twist coming, as there simply aren't enough pages left to cover what happens after "training."
I really enjoyed Speaker for the Dead though.

Wait wut? I read that 20 years ago

Yeah "The Last Shadow" came out during Covid, he's also working on a 6 book prequel series apparently

>>24723800
wait until you hear about the dune series
>>
>>24724360
What Dune books are even worth reading? I just finished Dune, currently reading Dune Messiah. I wanted to read the prequels about the Butlerian Jihad, but other than that I'm not sure how much I care.

Isn't this nigga in his 70s or 80s now? Is he like GRRM where he just does not factor in the fact that he'll stop being able to be an elderly manchild when he dies someday?

>What Dune books are even worth reading?
1 to 4. 5 and 6 are trash, so God Emperor is the jumping off point.

He's not the main writer on the Prequel stuff he's working with another writer to get them done. The First 3 books are the first war and the next 3 coming out are the second, Ender's is the third war iirc

you missed the point

Most e-readers display how far you've got through a file.

God Emperor is balls-achingly boring.
At least something happens in the last two books.
>>
Isn't it weird that Ender's Shadow totally negates the singular importance that Ender had in Ender's Game? Shadow implies that Bean would have been a better choice.
>>

>God Emperor is balls-achingly boring.
Its a character focused exploration of Leto. Compared to 5 and 6... where hardly anything happens, and all that excellent character writing is thrown out of the window.
>At least something happens in the last two books.
There's only one decent POV in 5 that makes me not call it completely trash. 6 is actually just abysmal dogshit, it was probably for the best we never saw 7 considering it would've been worse in all likelihood.
>>
>>24725014
How fucking gay. Imagine milking it this far. How embarrassing.
>>
>>24727271
Does it? I don't remember it much but I'm pretty sure it said multiple times that Bean is too autistic to be a good leader and his superintelligence is borderline useless because people don't like him as much as Ender.
