Your thoughts on mimetic rivalry?
Whatever happened there
Sure, we break some balls here tonight, but I go way back. And in light of recent humiliations, it's an honor to be joined by men.
>>24722335...and not FAGGOT ASS CORNHOLING COCKSUCKERS LIKE ATTENDED MY LECTURES. HE SHOULD FUCKIN DIE!
>>24722138I think it goes a long way to explain how retarded everything has gotten even though it's basically unfalsifiable
>>24722138Interesting concept but more interesting when paired with Agamben's zoe-bios distinction.

Mimetic rivalry is how I went from not getting any girls to having a girlfriend and sleeping with all of her friends.
>>24724192who was your rival anon?
>>24724343I didn't have a rival. My girlfriend was all of her friend's rivals.
>>24724346I see, your girlfriend is like the archetypal Frenchman. Most impressive
>>24723700No
>>24722376Same actor, just recast for Vito
>>24722376That's the same actor, he plays Gino.In a later episode (2x8) he's just an errand boy for Richie's crew who goes to Beansie's house to build him a wheelchair-accessible ramp. He's actually credited as Vito there but it's obviously long before the writers decided he should be a main character running the construction business.Chase obviously liked the actor and kept him around until he got bumped up to a main character.
>>24722138How do undo the mimetic apocalypse blackpill bros?I can feel the world crashing all around me like flailing retards trying to beat the shit out of each other
>>24725183Bataille figured it out, we need to build a gift economy as a means of releasing excess in a less destructive manner.
>>24725099Wasn't he the gay guy?
>>24726770potlucks and other such gift giving rituals still led to blood feuds, as per Girard due to the competing metaphysical desires (equivalent to Wills to power) of the gift givers and all that. How does Bataille address this?
>>247221381) great, creative lens for literary analysis (e.g. the importance of Christ)2) extremely stupid as an overarching worldview. only the most NPC of NPCs genuinely want things in themselves solely because other people want them. aka the guy who wants to be on top at all costs in a very specific position because he wants a certain image so badly that he can't seem to understand that what he really wants is approval. obviously, there are many people like that, but it's simply not a comprehensive explanation. even your average normie has some sense of what actually feels good, what doesn't, and what juice is generally worth the squeeze, what they only do because they need to tolerate other people or they need to fit in to some extent, etc. everybody can tell what makes them actually feel good, and this is what they will base their decisions on. they will not continue to do things that do not make them fulfilled in some way unless they've been one-shotted by some powerful idea or coercion. most desires that appear "mimetic" is just a means to an end and is only a problem due to scarcity and rivalry (in an economic sense), aka power. most people want some kind of power so they can get the things that they truly want. obviously, power is not sharable, so there ends up being conflict. but this isn't mimetic conflict because the ultimate desires (that the power is being used for) are diverse and multifaceted. mimetic rivalry can't explain what the first desire was (the thing to be imitated), nor can it explain why there are many desires and not just one archetypal desire and many copies. many Girardians do not even understand what desire is. it's not a lack, as only some desires are satiated by possession of the object (e.g. hunger). many desires can be "achieved" and yet still persist or even be increased in terms of intensity and duration (love, drug addition, etc.). I've never seen a deeper explanation that didn't turn into a vacuous just-so explanation that offered little more than a gloss on the underlying mechanisms. any theory can do that. but the tech right seems to be monumentally more retarded, in that they think mimetic rivalry is about competition in general and a justification for monopoly even though having a monopoly does nothing to stop mimetic rivalry even by their own logic. we have midwits running the show and they're going to use it to make everything worse.
