I have just finished listening to Blank Generation. Are any of Richard Hell's books worth reading?
>>24723347haven't read them (i should).the second voidoids albums has some gems on it, too.i read in an interview with him that he was bored with all of the beat generation imitation in the counterculture and wanted to bring in french symbolist/decadent/surrealist influence, an idea which i like. but the excerpts i heard from his prose didn't sound like they lived up to that idea. in contrast, i enjoyed tom verlaine and patti smith's little poetry book "the night" when i read it a long time ago.
