I was sitting right there but I simply didn't think of holding the door open or helping her out in some way. I didn't think anything like "haha filthy woman I won't help you", I simply didn't think about helping. In the past I would always help out cause I liked it. It dawned on me that I changed a lot.As for OP just get into Buddhism. Although all religious takes on compassion are "because you get a better afterlife" so if you do not believe in the afterlife it makes no sense
