You ARE a good typist, aren't you, /lit/?

Can't be much of a writer if you have to hunt and peck.

I type quickly and I don’t need to look at the keyboard of even at the screen but I mainly just use by index and my middle fingers on either hand. I hit the space bar with my thumbs, I only ever use my other four fingers for hitting non-alphabetical keys. It suffices but if’s not being a good typist.

I can type around 80 wpm to 95 wpm. However I feel like I have plateaued. Occasionally I have gone 100+ but never consistently

I even type professionally doing transcription

I took the typing club course for a week and now i can type quite nicely (except the numbers)

I use a split keyboard, so I'm obligated to type properly. It's pretty great. Anyway, not literature, as with every other thread here.

Nobody who grew up with computers hunts and pecks. That's for boomers and for little kids.

Just took a test after posting this. I recently got a typewriter and its odd to feel so much slower in the mechanical typing. If I try and type how I am used to I end up having the arms clash with each other.

Yes. But I am a lousy writer.

I learned how to type when I was like 7 or 8 years old. Home row typing is a pretty basic skill to have. I think I clocked my typing speed at about 70wpm years ago, but I don't really push for speed because I'm not a stenographer or a secretary, or any other profession where being able to type faster than people talk is a requirement.
>>
108 words per minute, I don't adhere to home row typing though, my hands wander all over the keyboard and I rarely use my pinky fingers

I don't like typing tests because 99% of typing for me is typing my own thoughts, not copying what I hear or read. I'm much faster when I don't have to follow a prompt.

Did you start typing this post when the thread started?
