Hence most of the great philosophers of those times (e.g., Descartes, Hobbes, Spinoza, Locke, Leibniz, Hume, and Kant) came to adopt deterministic worldviews. Determinism actively invites you to pass judgement on God. Passing judgement on God is as good as killing him, his non-existence is his only alibi. Thusly, God would not live to see the end of the 19th century.
