Whenever I look up authors of books I read when I was really young, it’s really disheartening to see how old they are or that they’ve been gone for decades at this point. Children books are a lost art: modern writers can’t balance sensitivity with tackling deep concepts: kids are forced to read YA slop since the alternative is just blatantly dumbed down stuff that they have no interest in.
