>>24732897Had the same experience with the Recognitions. Read 50 pages, realised it has everything I look for in literature, and put it down for future use. Planning to whip it out when I feel particularly starved for great literature.Never got the fascination with Tolstoy though. Always seemed to me like a standard realist, one I'd rank below the likes of Eliot, Flaubert and James.
