How do you read without instantly forgetting everythijg you just read a minute or two later
>>
>>24737452
Your brain was ruined by short form media, doomscrolling, gaming, etc. Just be bored for extremely long periods of time. Read books that you are very interested in.
>>
>>24737452
PUT DOWN THE JOINT YOU LOW LIFE PIECE OF SHIT
>>
>>24737455
I don't use drugs aside from caffeine.
>>

Subvocalization helps a lot. It's like reading a book outloud but inside your head. Slow down a bit and read it this way.
>>
>>24737452
read slower and don't do drugs
>>
Write a summary of what you just read. Do it after every page if you must. Don't look at the book while you do this.
>>
why do you need to remember everything?

So can I fix my brain
>>24737466
I don't need to remember everything but it feels poibtless to read if I don't remember anything at all
>>
I move my tongue inside my mouth as if I’m reading aloud what I’m reading in my head.
Autistic as fuck but it works.

Pin everything with intentionality. If yku have a favourite media franchise, use the fond memories for it to pin things to your memory board which is a slotred system of a down pat type of familiarty: take your IQ and divide it by 15, and round down to the nearest whole number so you know how many slotrs you have to work with. (Be honest! Most of the time its 7 And .Thats. Ok.) Give each and every character (the more = better) that many slots to be a file for cabinet for paginating usefull ideas. "Every jig is a dance but not every dance is a jig," which is to say that each and every sentence of a book dies not a books make. Just take the highlights and use them for key indicators. To retrain memories of the past you live in the past and stop running away from it and you stop "feeling bored" (have compassion for boringness), you stop seeking out novel experiences and you stop guzzling newer info. Internet addiction usually commsae with information addiction, so you cannot be taking in new info and you expect to keep most of it. You are trying to have your cake and eat it too with that. Nobody said you needed to remember everything. If you don't have a system to make a pin board anything you are most into could be use. You could use memes like Pepe and Wojak. Give each of em a number, and with your slots, those are gonna be ecosystems for them to live in. Now for each pin do the pin action (whatever it says) with the man in the ecostsem. When you see that man: there you have it.

Mark up extensively while reading, and write extensive notes down somewhere. Also, if you ever get the chance to teach the book to an audience, and have to make good slides, and reread the passages, that all helps commit to memory and break it down perfectly. In other words, the second best way to read is to read as an academic researcher, and the best way to read is to read as an academic instructor. This is also why researchers and instructors are so much smarter than random people who read a billion books. It doesn't matter much if you read a book, it matters much more if you can master its material completely.

The only things that truly worked for me
1. copious amounts of caffeine
2. school forcing me to read hard texts which then rewires my brain.
>>
>>24737452
Sounds like a skill issue

>>24737455
Or use the paper to make more joints I dunno
>>
>>24737452
For me it was full time employment
Combination of not having this >>24737454
and needing to remember/pay attention to things for work. Big difference. But still the usual limitations of memory. I suggest making notes or mentally reviewing what you read.

>So can I fix my brain
If it's possible, you must do it through unabashed boredom. Your brain may be undamaged and simply in need of practice, either way just lay off videos, games, 4chan, spend time reading or staring at the wall.
