Al Ghazali refutes his contemporary followers of Greek philosophy, asserting that religion and faith in God is superior to philosophy in regards to metaphysics and knowledge of the divine. The 11th century text from a Muslim polymath basically describes my view on Greek philosophy as a Muslim myself, and this book is highly popular in the intellectual circles of Muslim countries like Pakistan. Especially in regards to students of Islamic mysticism.

I reject the polytheist, pederast cult of the ancient Greek philosophers that pervades the ruling class and Western academia (and /lit/) in favor of faith in God and religious studies, which leads us to Al Ghazali's magnum opus: The Revival of Religious Sciences. A subject for another thread.

>Start with the Greeks!

They always say. With such commanding arrogance, as if looking down on you as an unenlighted peon.

>Start with the Greeks!

Thick tomes of indoctrination slammed on the psyche of young liberal arts students, not-to-secretly inlaid with ancient and revolting perversions and cult idol worship. Minerva? Athena? Zeus? I worship God! Not unliving statues! What backwards, primitive nonsense at its foundation, twisted into an image of sophisticated cultural heritage.

>Start with the Greeks!

No! Start with prayer, start with the prophets. Start with the Scripture and read it and re-read it for life. There you will actually find spiritual satisfaction, sufficient answers for sincere truth seekers.

Does the ruling class think its cults and its perversions are subtle? Its incoherence, madness, and it's terrible sins? These devil worshipers? I don't think so!

I rebel against this culture of Satan! This aggressive, degenerate, and oppressive cult of sin.

Start with God!

Muslims are retarded and the most dogmatic retards in existence.

Anyway so what and where is the actual criticism beyond "I am opposed to the west :D!"

of all the possible enemies the greeks should be the last a religious person should worry about. iamblichus said philosophy was knowledge of God i.e. philosophy = theology, this was common within the entire platonic history

direct your attack to materialists, modernists, atheists, nihilists, wahhabists etc

> This aggressive, degenerate, and oppressive cult of sin.

muslims were big fans of sex slavery though, its there from the early records and a huge chunk of jurists permitted prostitution. thats a very modern protestant way of looking at islam by you.

>Minerva? Athena? Zeus? I worship God!

the islamic ideas of God and religion are heavily borrowed from late antiquity judaism (in context of hadith, extremely neurotic mesompatian jewish culture) and also paganism (christians and later jews borrowed heaven and hell from the plebian romans and greeks, it didn’t exist in times of the earlier prophets)
and even Yahweh began as a henothiestic god, and evidence points its extremely likely the shared early prophets were likely henothiests (christian and jewish academics out of shame admit to it, but a muslims pretend hcm doesn’t exist)

so despite all that how can you with such abysmal arrogance look down on those traditions? infact the greeks weren’t even one tradition, even socrates in his death records and Plato are extremely different, let alone Homer whose ideals were leagues apart (islam borrowed heavily from platonic ideas, as did christianity cause it was the zeigiest, even things like the “soul” and afterlife didn’t exist among the abrahmic tradition)

>Ghazali

Ghazali admitted in his autobiography that truth is beyond our human grasp, and that he gave up the search for truth, and “just trust intuition” from god bro,

he was considered a laughing stock even among the andalusi muslim tradition which was inherited by jews out of all imaginable people because of Maimonides.

if you want to make a point about specifics, im curious to hear it,
but throwing random cusses at them out of blind arrogance wont lead to a good discussion

Muslims are Arabic Mormons. They try to inject their disordered beliefs into the lineage of Judeo-Christianity while simultaneously calling it corrupted. Very bipolar ideology, and this is reflected in their adherents.

Muslims will claim that the Gospels (Injeel) are corrupted and shouldn’t be trusted. Then in the same breath they’ll mutter that Muhammad is mentioned in the Torah and the Gospels (look in the Quran at 7:157) and use that as proof he existed. Not only is this a laughably wrong interpretation (you have to do some serious mental gymnastics to think ancient Jews wanted an Arab to be their prophet), but it just goes to show how Islam is bipolar and contradictory to its core.

Joseph Smith and his plates are more believable than this blatant retconning. Not to mention, Smith and Muhammad shared a lot more in common than just being false prophets….

>Al Ghazali
I remember reading a German translation of his work.
He somewhat remember Agrippa von Nettesheim and Sextus Empiricus.

Besides this, his influence was mostly negative. He turned the islamic scholastic world into a state of decline when he emphasized mystical experiences of God instead of rationality and recognition.
By the way, the islamic intellectual world was not that big or important some political correct dudes want to make us believe. However, they were on a more rationalist way before Al Ghazali.

How the bright young mind is molded here in America!

>liberal arts

If not liberal arts, then what? Perhaps engineering, now there's where the money is! Put aside the classics, modernists, post-modernists for the real challenge!

Electrical, mechanical, aerospace, computing, which will you choose? Mediocrity may lead to you a small firm, talent leading to big tech, but for the truly gifted minds: Government work.

Off to some secret lab to work a secret job, unlisted and unspoken under veils of security clearances and sworn to secrecy by legal contracts. To do what? To devise incredible and expensive machines to murder Muslim children!

Behold! The MQ-9 Reaper by General Atomics. Tens of thousands of civilians murdered in Pakistan by remote control without a single military casualty. The fruit of genius according to our ruling class! Bomb schools by remote control from an airbase in Texas or Florida, a soldier at a computer desk mass murdering students from the other side of the planet.

What will it be, bright young mind? The arts or the sciences? Post-modern degeneracy or the booming industry of murder machines? How will you serve international zionist imperialism? Will you perpetuate a godless culture or invent bombs to drop on Muslim civilians?

Anything but the Koran!

>Think of the children, Saar!
Pretending as though MENA nation states wouldn’t immediately start glassing their own civilians if they had access to a fraction of American military tech is laughable.

Because, you know, it’s already happened. ISIL is what happens when you give chimps machine guns. MIGA is just cleaning up its mess.

Crazy how the Moohamidians were the enlightened and cultured ones, with their Al je bra and silk and linens, during the crusades and have degenerated into harsh dogma where they are so inept at holding down a woman in a robe they have to get their hymans checked before marriage instead of it being assumed she is chaste

This is simply not true at all.
They had a flourish intellectual culture back in the day but the difference between Europe and the islamic culture was not so big.
The main point is, the main area of the islamic expansion has been between the Byzantins, the Hindu and the Chinese. Steaming from this point alone, the islamic world gots a lots more intellectual imput than west Europa at this time.

If we ignor the Mongolians, the Chinese has been the one how were the "e enlightened and cultured ones" at this days. When you ignore the value differences, of course. They had a big borthel culture over there and trete their women poorly.

the dogma was always there. it's just that they were in a position of power then, whereas nowadays they are under the other side's thumb on pretty much every aspect of everyday life.

>Muslims got so butthurt at philosophy they manage to crater their entire civilization into stagnating for centuries while christian europe went to invent and discover basically everything
A reminder of the dangers of anti-intellectualism and unchecked abrahism

Yes. The real reason the West took off is the rediscovery of Aristotle, they were the only ones to embrace it and run with it and within 300 years you have modernity.
>>
>>24737915
the west, on a socioeconomic level, only thrived due to embracing amorality. the material conditions manifested by this situation, namely the grand luxury of free time and large resources, led to the grand ''breakthroughs'' made in the fields of science, the arts...etc. that's all there is to it.
