What are the highlights of his bibliography? I read Whatever when I was 16 and really enjoyed but haven't gone back to him since. He seems like one of the last interesting writers left alive after we lost BolaƱo and McCarthy, although I am not comparing him to them
>>24737954The Elementary Particles is a must-read so start there. The Possibility of an Island is good, a sort of continuation of the major theme in The Elementary Particles. The Map and the Territory is his most polished work. Platform is simultaneously smut, comedy, and prophecy that you'll either hate or love. As for everything else, just pick at random, it's all worth reading in my opinion just to see how his ideas have evolved over time.
>>24738036Just read up about The Map and the Territory. That sounds great so I'll definitely check that one out
>>24738050Good choice. For the record, The Elementary Particles is a lot closer to Whatever in style and themes. The Map and the Territory will feel like it was written by a different author. But still a good choice.
>>24738060Well it's been six years since I read Whatever so my memory of it's style is distant to me now so I think I'll be able to slide into Map comfortably enough
