Is Arthur Pym a good place to start?
1. The Tell-Tale Heart2. The Masque of the Red Death3. The Pit and the Pendulum4. The Fall of the House of Usher
>>24738581I've only read a few chapters but no. Poe shines in short fiction. Fall of the House of Usher, Cask of Amontillado, Tell-Tale Heart, Masque of the Red Death, Gold-Bug, etc.

>Fall of the House Usher >Tell-Tale Heart Boring answers, but there's a reason why they're his most well known stories. Usher especially is the epitome of gothic horror. The setting is absolutely perfect. >>24738708The Pit and the Pendulum is probably my favorite because of how nightmarish it is. The story takes place almost entirely in the dark and there's this pervasive feeling of helplessness. The Black Cat is also good, albiet too similar to Tell-Tale Heart. I was really grossed out by the animal abuse.
