ITT share what books you are currently going through and discuss with others about theirs.

This is my new batch that just arrived. I'm gonna get into them as soon as I finish my current book.

Koran, Hadith, Tafsir of Ahl al-Bayt.

I'm currently struggling with Don Quixote.
The book is very funny, but it's not the kind of book I'm always in the mood to read, and even when I read it, I stop after one hour or so. I think the episodic nature of it makes it a bit hard to read for longer periods of time.

Alexander the Great by Philip Freeman
Nice overview of his life.
>>
I just ordered the entire Nabokov bibliography after reading bits and pieces here and there. As usual, the coward in me went for the Italian translations even though I'd rate my English 6,5/10. Knowing the guy's position on women authors, it's funny how most of the Adelphi translations are female.

Critique of Pure Reason

Peter Berger - Sacred Canopy. Not a bad read so far.

Finished reading this, an examination of an executioner's life in the 1500s and those he executed. Unfortunately you don't get too much of the executioner's own thoughts on matters since he didn't write down much other than those he killed and what they did to break the law. But it does well in showing you the depravity of man and vaguely tells the story of how the executioner Frantz Schmidt regained his family's honor.

This was after I finished reading a manga abut a samurai executioner (fictional), also highly recommend that. https://mangapill.com/chapters/3723-10001000/samurai-executioner-chapter-1

Finishing The Sutra of Ksitigarbha's Fundamental Vows because I'm halfway through the Labyrinth of the Demon King and I wanted to read some sutra about the Buddhist hells and also picrel because anon posted the standardbooks website and I have Fable and it uses standardbooks files for their free ebooks.

The first one is Morrowind: Sutra Edition and the second one is Dark Souls: Baudelaire edition.

Almost done with the Alexander book, very interesting and quite well written not dry at all, been reading The Manuscript Found in Saragossa out loud to myself because I'm scared of losing my Polish because I never speak it anymore, and the Vorrh I'm about a third through it and its probably the first time I've really enjoyed a fantasy/sci-fi type book since reading the solar cycle all the way through last year

A lot of your stack leans towards the Enlightenment. Any reason for this in particular?
>>
>>24739728
Some New World: Myths of Supernatural Belief in a Secular Age by Peter Harrison
The New Science of the Enchanted Universe by Marshall Sahlins
Tragedy and hope: a history of the world in our time by Carroll Quigley
All really good books
>>
>>24739785
How's that Sahlins? I heard somewhere he's a noble savage kind of guy but I want a second opinion.

I gotta finish with Hume first, it's the last book from the previous batch. I'm slightly less than halfway through, I reckon I'll get through it this week.
>>24739774
I'm trying to take it in chronological order starting from the 18th century onwards, while also reading the classics and sprinkling in some more modern stuff or other books I hear about on /lit/ for extra variety. I got the Melancholy of Resistance because some Anon here recommended it.

Think of how good they'll look on his coffee table, though.
The guests will love 'em!

I've probably read over 80 philosophy books or so i ended up mostly graduating to sociology, theology, history and psychology soon after.

Why would one buy a book that he does not plan to read?
>>
>>24740179
are you joking? people do this more often than not, especially people who post their "to read" stack rather than their "read" stack
