Is there any value whatsoever to be found in this fucker's writing if you're not a commie?
>>
He is to be blamed for acting degrading from an art form to people just having emotional outbursts in front of a camera.
>>
>>24741429
No. All his books need burning.
>>
>>24741429
He literally looks like that one wojak.

Saint Joan of the stockyards I found to be accidentally compelling.
It is obviously meant to be read as "Religion bad! Opiate of the masses!" but a Christian reading of it actually gives some food for thought when it comes to how you are supposed to act against injustice and inequality while turning the other cheek.

>turning the other cheek
I don't think that a more disgusting phrase has ever been coined since the dawn of history. Isn't it especially funny how its inventors practice it the least, too?
>>

Well the Shark has, many teeth dear.

He's a clean writer; though I don't subscribe to his politics, I like his plays especially
>>
No. Read Artaud instead.

>He's a clean writer
Do you read him in German? I read some his prose poetry translated into English and it was like something a teenager could have written. May be the translator, though, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised.

This one was fine honestly

What does Mack the Knife have to do with this
>>
>>24742396
Kurt Weil and Brecht wrote the Three Penny Opera (based on John Gay's 18th c Beggars Opera) and Mack the Knife's originally a song from it
>>
>>24741857
Some auf Deutsch but mostly in English; Mother Courage is a good play, and Galileo's a good radio play-- for two instances. I like Artaud, but Brecht's pristine clarity is uncommon among the writers of his time
>>
>>24741857
His poetry gets an occasional boost from the inherent imagery of the German language but most of it is still tepid and reductive and all of it is cloying nonsense. Even the rare good one leaves me feeling cheaply manipulated as in the effect of a pop song.
>>
>>24743125
Ah. I knew this and forgot.

>boost from the inherent imagery
Dislike his politics all you want, but don't make as if his opting for some words over others is somehow accidental; or do so with the codicil that 'such is the case' with absolutely every German poet
