Has there even been a happy or even content literary genius?

Yes. The tortured artist is a psyop. Everyone is tortured, art is a salve for the wounds.
>>24746857To be clear content is what I'm saying yes to. Happiness as an overall state of being is also a psyop.
No, enjoyment kills your muse
The crazy/depressed artist/poet/musician only becomes a meme in a modernity after the liberal revolutions. Writers were commonly disaffected with a life of letters not only because writing and reading demands a lot of time alone in a world increasingly dominated by noise and discussion, but also because modernity is such a disaster for the sort of sweet life that literati are usually after. We actually can’t have a Virgil in 2025 because we just don’t live in that world. Instead, we can only have urban-dweller disenchanted with modern life and a world of selfish, disloyal, NPC people. It would take a great strength of will and frankly resources to be other than that as a writer. Houllebecq is the way he is for a reason.
>>24746795Shakespeare actually. Camus was definitely enjoying himself. Some of Gospel writers seemed happy.
happiness is for the retards and sages
